Michelin Tweel
#1

Got this in an email from the boss. Interesting new wheel/tire combo for you bleeding edge enthusiasts.

Guess this signals an end to those vultures charging for air?

Michelin has offered this tire before in Class 8 tractors as well as a complete single tire in place of tandems. The weight savings is enormous, but the problem with Michelin is, none of their vendors will have them for 2 years, so if there is a problem you will be screwed. I think this tire and wheel will go over big with auto-xers, but I think the general public will be about 2 years away from running them.

On the other hand, the large single tires that replace tandems will be significant additions to Class 8's almost immediately, if Michelin can produce them fast enough and supply their vendors with the product.

Make no mistake, my company buys over 1 million dollars in tires a year, and Michelin makes the best tire, because they use the best rubber. They however, have the worst dealer network and customer service compared to the other manufactuers.

I am sorry I got a little off topic.
