Lazy Eye?
#1

Members:

My 968 has suddenly developed a slow retracting driver's side headlamp. Lamp goes up without a problem but it takes longer than the passangers to go back down. Open to suggestions before I donate 175+ an hour for my Porsche dealer to take a look at it. Thanks, Robert

welcome to winter

take thee to the hardware store and purchase some Tri-Flow (please do not use WD-40)

then put the lamps in the service position and fully soak all moving parts

move he lamp up and down manually a few times while holding back the release armature

drop into position and watch them move freely again

This probably is a good preventive maintenance step for everyone - until we finally have a way of getting rid of these (IMHO, dumb) popups. Curious - why Tri-Flow (never heard of it) and not WD-40?

tri-flow is a teflon added lubricant - wd-40 is heavy on the solvent - loosens things up nicely, but doesn't leave as much lubricant behind, and can actually promote rust

tri-flow can be found at most hardware stores - it is in a smaller can than wd-40, and it's black with orange lettering

used to be called tri-flon 25 years ago, but i think they got into copyright trouble

After a "quick" Sunday drive to my local Home Depot this morning I picked up a can of tri-flow and now my lazy eye has been fixed. She's as good as new. Thanks Flash.
