OK, a post borne of frustration here. All I'm trying to do is find out stock wheel weights for my 968. This should be very simple.
I tried various permutations of "stock" and "wheel" and "weight" in various forums. A general search brings up 22 pages and 1000 posts. A search for "wheel weight" in REPAIR AND TECHNICAL brings up a seemingly endless list of one-word hit posts with 348 total.
Then, simply looking through the myriad of forums and sub-forums, I can't find one that simply deals with wheels and tires. Did I just miss it in there somewhere?
I understand what's trying to be accomplished here, but its becoming more and more frustrating trying to navigate through this site to find simple bits of info. Hopefully this is all on track for coming together soon in a more comprehensive way....I'll just go ahead and assume it is.

I tend to agree with TheMirror. I get real frustrated with some of the searches that I have done for the same reasons and I end up just giving up. I hope that there is some way to make this operate the way it was meant to and be a tool that is helpful.

[quote name='banditsc' post='57206' date='Aug 2 2008, 12:59 PM']Perform this search and look at the 5th topic in the results.

Congratulations, you're a genius. If you're going to make me look like a 3rd grader instead of just telling me, at least show me how you actually got there.
Now why don't YOU do these searches and tell me what you get.
Go to this search page and type in the exact same thing, 'wheel weight':
http://www.968forums.com/index.php?act=Search
You 1788 separate posts.
http://www.968forums.com/index.php?act=Sea...te=wheel+weight
Try again from there drilling down into REPAIR AND TECHNICAL. This is the result. 19 pages and 452 posts of info to sift through. The info isn't actually in here, yet nearly a half of a thousand hits come up anyway. :
http://www.968forums.com/index.php?act=Sea...te=wheel+weight
Not done. Do it again drilling down to the Wheels sub-sub forum (where the info actually resides), which is under the SHOPAHOLICS forum, which is under the Raising my 968 forum. 6 pages and 142 posts.
http://www.968forums.com/index.php?act=Sea...te=wheel+weight
Despite the results coming back as posts, which is crazy when topics are a much better and quicker summary to navigate, the posts are listed by most recent date! That has to be the most inefficient way possible to list any information.
So now I'll try to conjure the same magic you used to get the same result.
I end up discovering the old and far more comprehensive search page, which you can only get to by clicking on the 'More Options' button on this search page:
http://www.968forums.com/index.php?act=Search
You get here, which is where you should be able to go in the first place:
http://www.968forums.com/index.php?s=&...ode=adv&f=0
If you type in wheel weight without remembering to click the button for titles only, that thread shows up on the 3rd page of results, @ 20 topics down.
If you do remember to click the titles only radio button, it ends up 9th on the 1st page.
You do see what I'm getting at here, don't you? The first search page is completely useless. I have no clue what actual purpose it serves other than to frustrate the user with a cascade of useful results. Get rid of it. Will someone please just put the most advanced search option page as the default so other users don't have to go through this silliness?
Sorry for the aggressive post, but you burned me up with that patronizing response.

Ok....posting again in this thread so hopefully my edit button for the above post will re-appear.

I think I've fallen into the lurker permissions chasm, I don't have edit buttons to my posts to make the obvious change of the highlighted word to
useless.
