Testdriving 18'' Magnesium Speedline Corse's
#1

Hi Folks,

I got used Speedline Corse's for Test Drive this week, and just cannot believe how much did they improve the car cornering ability, riding comfort and looks.

I was initially looking for light 17'' rims, but these 18'' might be THE rim's for my beauty. Maybe little heavier than very light 17'' rims, but I don't care. I like the color combination of my car with white wheels, and the fat back tires. Actually, back wheel arched had to be widened a bit, to get the 275 wheel fit in. But now it seems to be ok.

Cars acceleration feels a bit faster on first, second, and third gears, so maybe there's some weight gain compared to stock CUP 1's. And not to mention the improvement in lateral grip + steering feel.. njam!

enjoy the pics! (not too good quality though, will update some nicer ones when I get proper camera.

Stock 16's are not that light and if your 18's are magnesium they could be even or lighter in weight. I would imagine tire choice also effects it. Looks nice and I like the Coral Red.

Matti,

Can you post close-ups or a better straight on side shot with the wheels? They look very nice from what I can tell... Similar in design look to the Ruf 968 wheel, yet more convex like the typical Porsche 968 17" C2 Turbo wheel. The Ruf wheels, if I remember correctly, were mostly flat. Yours look nicely rounded....

Unfortunately I don't have the weight of the rims. I think I'll weigh them when I put wintertires on (in one month or so).

The speedline ID for these rims is 2017, so if you find a list where the weight is listed, I would be glad to hear it aswell! Couldn't find such list from the net by myself.

Here are few additional pics. I'll take few closeups more, didn't remember to take them today.

Thanks, I'm happy with the results too! I like the racey look the car got with those wheels, that's exactly where I am aiming at. Bucket seats, racing steering wheel, and some day rollcage and then it's perfect. The guy from I bought the wheels told that people have not liked the white color of those wheels, but I think they make just the right extra effect for the car. Red color of the car helps too, it's a nice combination with white wheels.

The front offset is 67, for which I need spacers to avoid any contact (when there's full lock, front tires take little contact inside fender). That's abit bugger, because it increases a wheel weight abit.. maybe I'll test with 5-10mm spacer, to keep the extra weight as low as possible.

Rear offset is 40, which makes the rear look quite beefy with 275 tires. The wider a** car has, the better.

you could always take one of each off, weight it with tire, and we can figure out the wheel weight from there

hehe, there was about 2 inches of space btw curb and wheels, so not too tight yet.
