Rocky Mountain High Followup
#1

Our 4th annual event went great!

It was terrific to meet you, Flash, and a real eye-opener to drive your car. Holy cow...what a machine. The work you've put into it is clearly top notch, and it shows in appearance and performance. I'd still like to leave my coupe with you over the winter to let you work your magic with it.

Great to see you again, Eric. Can't wait to see you out at other Colorado events, too!

I have posted a few photos taken over the weekend at:

Friday's tour through the mountains went great, with some "spirited" driving. Was interesting seeing that Mustang GT try to keep up. Those Colorado roads were built for Porsches, no doubt about that!

Saturday's rafting trip through the Royal Gorge was rather intense, with a nice collection of Class IV rapids that some of us enjoyed in a raft, and the unfortunate ones outside the raft! I'm still amazed that Flash was able to stay in his raft while his side was completely submerged while traveling through very significant whitewater. All that without a harness! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

The car show on Sunday was lots of fun, with well over 300 amazing cars on display, and a beautiful day to enjoy them.

Thanks once again to all who joined us. We had a great time, and hope you all did as well.

Chris & Kathleen I want to thank you for taking the time to put this trip together. I have been so busy lately that I have not had time to REALLY explore Colorado. What a beautiful state! The drive was so much fun and you are right they designed CO roads just for us! I had a blast taking the long way home on the 9 all alone with twisties no sign of another sole. WOW! I ended up not staying at the hotel Friday night and took the advice of two gas station attendants on the quickest way back to Denver from salida. The 2 1/2 hour trip home ended up being a 4 1/2 hour ride through the Colorado back country. I had to average 95+ MPH speeds all the way home. HWY 9 was amazing passed 4 bikes and 2 cars the entire time on the 9. 1/2 twisties 1/2 straight aways It was the highlight of the weekend for me. The other kicker was that the entire weekend I only saw 2 State Patrol cars one in the town of Salida and the other parked at a diner. It was great to visit with the Bob's from NM and CA again. I was disapointed to find out that Bob Blackwell had to split early missing the car show! I know we will meet again real soon.

I will make a recommendation for next year. I would like to see it in conjuntion with the other exotic/Porsche car show you invited me to a few months back. I encourage others to make the Trek to Chris and Kathleen's Colorado get together next year... YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

we had a blast - great meeing everybody - glad you enjoyed the little test drive - please apologize to kathleen for me in advance for the unrelenting "honey, can i do this to my car?" that she is about to be subjected to

the friday drive was fun and nobody wiped out (though i did get to watch a near miss behind me) - got to pop it up to 120 a couple of times - as fast as we were driving through some of those amazing twisties, i still couldn't find the edge of the envelope with the suspension - really need to get it out on the track and find out the limits before it comes up on me at the wrong moment

the rafting was a hoot (thank god for all those crunches - only thing that kept me in the raft when it was flipping) - the sunburn and bruises should heal in a couple of days

eric - sorry i spaced and didn't have you blast my car around - my bad - gonna have to fix that soon - thanks agian for putting us up and everything else - once again, way above the call

those of you who didn't make this trip, you really missed out

Wish we could have made a test & tune session at Pueblo Motorsports Park work out.

The offer still stands for you or any others who are so inclined - I'm happy to help set up track time at any of our 5 (soon to be 4) area tracks. It doesn't take much nudging for me to find time for this.

Hmmm - maybe an idea for next year's event?
