Yep - my connector was tucked under the wire, making it difficult to see, and the way the wire was folded, it wasn't at all obvious that this connector had anything to do with the exciter wire. But once Robby pointed it out to me and I grabbed the connector and unfolded the wire, it was obvious. Spent a lot of time searching before Robby called me back...

Well, I received my Higher Connection ("Robby") cables, and installed them last weekend. I'd like to report that the installation was very straightforward - I'm no mechanical genius, yet I never had to refer to the (19 page!) set of instructions Robby sends with the kit. It was simply a matter of pulling out the old cables, one at a time, and then installing the new one right where the old one came out. I didn't have to remove the alternator (although reaching the connectors on the back of the alternator was a bit of a reach, and I had to use a mirror to make absolutely sure I was connecting to the correct one for the stater solenoid wire), but it really wasn't too bad.



The only minor issue I ran into was a result of my being one of the "early adopters" (very unusual for me!)of these cables - the main (+) battery to starter cable was about 6" longer than it needed to be. I could have lived with this, but I didn't like having all that extra slack, so, per Robby's suggestion, I shortened the cable at the battery terminal end, re-attached the terminal, and I was set. I'm sending him my old set so he can figure out why the main cable ended up being a little long, and I'm sure he'll have this minor glitch sorted out by the rime he makes his next set.



Robby is a very helpful guy, and will stop at nothing to support you during the purchase and installation process. Given the potential hazards associated with these cables given their age on our cars, I would highly recommend that you prioritize getting a new set from Higher Connections (and no, Robby isn't paying me to say this!).



Edit: I left out the most important thing - the quality of these cables is top notch - significantly better than stock. So replacing the stock ones with Robby's should be a one-time, permanent upgrade, and might (no guarantees here, as I haven't fired up my car yet) improve the performance of your electrical and charging system.

The search for Robby is worth the effort - his cables are outstanding, and eliminate a significant risk associated with 968 ownership, namely that the car could start itself and drive itself into your living room...
