Just checking if anyone here is going to that event ? A good friend of mine who has a Porsche pure race car ( 911 platform ) will be there and I'm thinking about attending, but $400 spectator admission ( from what I hear..) seems a bit absurd, so not sure I want to spend that, unless I'm the one doing the racing. He would let me drive his car although I don't know what the driver credentials have to be before you're allowed to take part in that type of event <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I don't suppose they let anyone take the wheel, do they ? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

As long as you have a PCA Club Racing license, you could register to drive his car. The problem would be that, as far as I can tell, there's only one actual race for each class of car. There is some practice time, of course, but it doesn't seem like an event that's well-suited to co-driving.

Hmmm, $90 is not bad at all, I wonder what the $400 ticket is all about then, that did seem way too much considering that's almost what I paid for three days grand stand tickets at the F1 GP in Montreal.

Maybe it's for some special VIP package.. In any event, if there is only one race for each class I won't have a chance to drive it except if they have free practice runs before the races. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

And it's not that I am confident ( or nearly competent enough ) to drive it in an all-out race anyway, but would not mind a few laps in time trials or such.. As for handing me the car, heck, he trashes it practically half of the time he enters in races, so it's not as if he worries about another ding or a scratch on it <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> One can't even tell it was ever a Porsche, the body resembles one of those LMP cars, all of it flat panels mounted together over what started as a 3L 911 engine. I think the car has only around 400-450 hp but with a 5:1 weight ratio, IIRC ), so I'm guessing it might just manage to outrun my 968 <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> , .. would be fun to see what that feels like around a track ..

I'm planning on attending Sat. and Sun. I'll also do the same for the Historics in August. They have a number of VIP packages that approach $400 in cost, but they do come with meals and other perks. I usually pay a little extra and park in the Porsche Corral. Less walking than from the more remote non-reserved parking.
