Recently a friend sent us an E-Mail describing a unique use for your cell phone. For those who have remote locks (keyless)on their cars and lock their keys in the car. This could be a real time saver.

#1 Call someone at home with a spare set of keys on your cell phone.

#2 Hold you cell phone about a foot from your car door.

#3 Have the person at your home press the unlock button on their end.

#4 Your car will unlock.

Distance is no object, you could miles away.

The person that sent tried this and it definetly works. Try it.

lol - i will definitely try that - makes sense though if the bandwidth of the phone transmitter allows it

That's one of those old emails rumors, it's not true. Keyless systems and cell phones use different kinds of signals and transmit them at different frequencies.

that was exactly my thought - i didn't think the cell phone transmitted a broad enough band of frequencies to include those, but you never know - carrier wave? harmonic?

A buddy of mine told me about this last year. I'm not a gambling man but I told him Id give him a 20 if it worked. He tested and no go. complete myth

My friends and I had a beer and mythbuster night a while back. None of our five vehicles responded to this experiment. BUSTED.

Wel, the person's husband didn't believe it either (tech type). They tried it and it worked. I will have to try it myself. What can I say.
