this is a project i've been meaning to get to for a while now but have been too busy with other parts projects to work on my own car (i swear i'm going to start calling my car the "cobbler's kid")
as a part of my effort to reduce underhood temperatures, and thereby reduce intake temperatures, i took advantage of an opportunity when i had the car in the air yesterday - i had already picked up the shroud piece for the tranny cooler, but yesterday i added a new 3" duct and a formed plenum and running from the front left (where the tranny cooler would be on a tip and a blank plate is on the manual) to the base of the intake i now have a directed blast of cold air - now nice cool fresh air will run right onto the intake, immediately behind the throttle body, cooling it off and lowering intake temps - we all know that cooler intake is free horespower! woohoo!
here are a couple of pics:

interesting. Do you still have and use your g-tech? I understand a mod like this is giving very little but a quick log with each upgrade will give you some sort of measuring point.

i do still have it - however, you are very right - this won't product a lot of power - maybe 2-3hp on a good day - remember that this is only blowing ambient air onto the manifold - it's not like i was freezing the charge or anything - it would be too small to show up on a g-tech

just develop something that redirects the AC air into the intake, and you'll add another 25 HP

Any pics of the inlet piece at the bumper?

I'm going to wrap my manifold inlet with cooling coils and incorporate a misting system....
Actually- what do the new air-conditioned seats use for cooling? Is it a fan or some sort of other electrical device?
Anyhow- nice upgrade you got there! Any worries with heat deteriorating the tubing?

porschedude - no pics - it's an OEM piece - came on all tip cars
bio - no worries - nothing that hot there, and it's intake tubing, specifically designed for this

Perhaps install a few peltier thermoelectric modules to the underside of the intake plenum or, that should cool it down.

lol - yes, but where do i get the 20 amps to drive them?

I wanted to see if we have any electronic types that would catch my sense of humour... Did you google them...[?]

nope - that type of a system has been in use in a few race cars for a few years now - i have actually seen one in action, know a manufacturer, and considered it for the 968 (not on the manifold though) - still can't get past the current drain though (nor the currency drain)
