Went on a great fun drive over the weekend (fri, sat, sun) to Southern Virginia. Local PC had an outing to The Homestead. There were 8 cars on the drive south (from DC). We were the last car in the line with the task to keep the stranglers in line. The event organizer planned a great drive with a lot of twisties. It was a very "spirited group" with everyone keeping up with the leader. It really put the 968 throuhg it's cornering and acceleration capabilites. My 968 held it's own against the 911 turbos, Carraras and certainly the Boxsters. Saturday we went to the radio telescope site in West Virginia with more twisties. Again at the back but we had some drivers that were not up to the spirited driving. They had Boxsters and were not used to driving them aggresively. So, I would just hang back and then catch up. We had one guy who got a speeding ticket from the local sheriff. He was not part of the group drive and decided to drive on his own. It was a German guy with a 996 doing 67 in a 55, but he was going a lot faster when he "flew" past us coming back from the telescope visit. My only mishap was hitting the curb with my splitter and bending the aluminum support and added more scrapes. RATS! Will have get it repainted and the support fixed. All in all a fun weekend with great driving.

Sounds like a great time Cos.
I hear good things about how the boxster inspires confidence in a novice driver. Perhaps that's only true when keeping up with the avg 4 cylinder

There was a boxster driver that did keep up. I'm not slamming them it just seems to me that some owners don't know the capabilities of the car. They need to do some PCA DE. Here are pictures, I hope

Looks like fun... Hopefully the Left coast will be able to supply some pictures after our SoCal run in a couple of weeks.
BTW, my old '01 Boxster S handled much better than my 968. The Boxster was pretty effortless in the handling department. It simply went where you pointed it and stuck like glue... I am interested to see how close I can get when I spend a couple grand on the suspension in the near future. That's about the only thing I miss about the Boxster though. Since getting the 968, I haven't missed the Boxster at all (other than maybe the colored crest in the middle of the steering wheel .

I think the strut brace and the M030 sway bars really made the handling better. Also the Toyos (245 and 265) were very helpful.

yup, I hear remarks like that about the boxsters all the time. As you said Cos, some DE events will help them to appreciate there cars on a whole new level.
