DRAIN PLUG ON ENGINE FOR COOLANT???? - BOB968 - 05-09-2019

Folks:

I am doing a coolant flush of my 968. Read the forums about phosphate free anitfreeze. Drained the rad, removed the lower rad hose and thermostat (that was fun!). Is there a drain plug on the engine that I should be removing? If so, where is it located.?

Thanks

Bob968

Thanks Jay. So basically, if you remove the lower rad hose and the thermostat, the car is drained of all coolant. The reason I ask, is that I am not sure what was put in the car last time the coolant was changed and therefore I want all the old stuff out.

Yes and here's why. The blue line is the depth of the water jacket in the block. The yellow line is the lowest point of the water pump opening.  Just let it sit long enough and all the coolant will drain down to the lowest point. The lower hose for the water pump.

There is a drain plug at the bottom of the radiator...plastic bugger frequently breaks.

Do yourself a favor and buy (1or 2) of those bright blue rad drain plugs. They r cheap
