windshield washer nozzle - SILVY968 - 07-30-2009

I have noticed that the driver's side windshield washer nozzle is squirting out washer fluid when I hit a bump in the road.
The fluid is leaving its trail on the hood between the nozzle and the windshield. Some squirts are strong enough to make it to the windshield.
The passenger side is fine.

Is there a valve in the nozzle that keeps this from happening unless you pump out the fluid?

Anyone ever run into this wet issue?

Thanks
Brian

Ditto.

Look at PET illustration 904-10 (I looked in MY94, but it is probably the same illustration for all years). From the illustration, there is a valve upstream of each nozzle, see items #18 and #19 in the diagram. Perhaps this valve (for your side) is shot. There aren't any other valves / controlling devices in the system that I can see....

Each valve looks to be under $10.

there is a valve for each sprayer - it's a check valve - mine used to do that until i changed them

Is the set up for the window washers the same on Cabs and Coupes? Seems that only Cab owners are chiming in on this one.

Mine does that also, Cab, always wondered about that..

I think that it must be that most of the time, that cabs travel at a much higher speed than the coups, and that the constant acceleration forward causes the water to damage the valve.

Both mine do that when I pull the wrong stalk forward to release the cruise!

One of the few 'cab only' problems I don't seem to have. I never use the things anyway cause the wife is not fond of the squirter bath.

easy dan...

of course now having said that you have tempted the porsche gods and will now have your reservoir develop a leak requiring removal of the right wing to repair

windshield washer nozzle - bva - 08-10-2009

had the same problem with my driver's side also; ordered the check valve last month; problem went away before i installed it; easiest fix i've made yet.

maybe the reservoir is empty...

windshield washer nozzle - SILVY968 - 08-12-2009

5 minute fix.
I must say that this may have been the fastest and least expensive fix I have done since I got her.
Not a big deal, but nice not to have spots and drips on the car.
