Single Mass Flywheel and Racing Clutch -
craigawoodman - 08-29-2009
Hi,
My clutch let go yesterday at our trackday. It had the good manners to fail in the last session of the day, but to make sure it got my attention it went when braking from the fastest section of the track (hard to pull up when you are looking for gears and then the clutch pedal).
I have been contemplating fitting a single mass flywheel when the clutch actually went. Does anyone have any history with using a single mass flywheel and can provide feedback on whether or not it actually makes a difference and who are the best vendors for the flywheel and also a clutch more suited to racing.
Thanks heaps in advance.

There are vast quantities of information on this topic on this site. I know the blunt admonition to "Do a search" in lieu of offering a direct response can sometimes appear a bit rude, but in this case, a search will be very straighforward and productive. Also, give Pete at RS Barn a call; he can give you tons of useful information on this subject. Good luck.

OK,
So we've placed 50 or so factory approved (light weight) flywheels in street and track cars. The results are incredible. Faster spoolup and great throttle blips when heel towing. Great new clutch friction material. Part Kevlar and part Ceramic lead to very smooth engagement and firm bite
So this is all we do so I get excited!!! BTW our cars kick butt
