I have frustratingly tried to search for this, but no dice. My fan is staying on when I cut the car off. If I pull the fuse or relay, it cuts off. "Simple stuff, I'll order a new relay, this one is obviously sticking". Got the new relay and installed it, but same problem. Is it something inside my CCU? Any other simple fixes. There is no difference in the CCU between any 85.5 and up 944/968 variant, is there?

Stays on forever or turns off after a certain amount of time? If it's staying on, it probably in the temp switch on the radiator. Pull the wires to that switch when it's stuck on and see what happens. Also make sure the connectors to the two resistor pucks on the firewall behind the battery are in good shape.

Yeah, the fan is supposed to stay on for a short period of time.... but it should kick off after a quick 30 seconds or so.

That, or this 968 and my old 944 both had bad relays.......

I can check that. I haven't left it on long enough to cut off when I have realized it. Not positive where the rad temp switch is, but I am sure I can find it. Thanks for the quick reply.

That's odd that it's supposed to. My car has been sitting a couple hours. I am goinging to run out and stick the relay in. Wanna take bets as to whether the fan will come on?

As stated, it's supposed to stay on for 30 seconds to 1 minute. I was actually surprised to make a stop yesterday, go inside the building for about 3-4 minutes, and still have the fan stay on when I came back out. However, yesterday was 100 degrees or so and I had the air on in city traffic so I'm sure the car was breathing pretty hard...

I didn't give it another thought and chalked it up to the heat. Hasn't stayed on that long since.

Put a dunce cap on me. For the first time in a long time, I drove the 993 to work today, so I can't just "go out and stick the relay in". Thought about that when I was about to head out there...

Yeah, it stays on for the necessary amount of time to cool the engine to some specified temp (unknown by me). Mine will stay on anywhere from 15 seconds to a couple minutes it seems like, but it's all based on how hot the car is.

I think you guys may be confusing engine/radiator fan with the fresh air blower fan (heater/AC) that I am having an issue with.

Update: I put the relay in after the car sat all day and my blower fan came right on. I let it run for several minutes on high. It ain't shuttin' off... I am guessing I have a CCU issue. Assuming they are the same as late 944s, I will find out soon enough.

Ahh, usually it's the radiator fan we hear about. Haven't heard about the HVAC fan staying on.

To be fair, my post wasn't clear at all. I did mention my CCU, but no other indication I was referring to the fresh air blower fan.
