So I love being at the track the whole event and would rather skip running back and forth to a hotel. I own a really nice enclosed trailer with custom cabinets and lights etc. but sleeping on an air mattress is getting old. Plus no windows or comfort ammenities. The last straw was a race at New Jersey Motorsports Park where is rained non-stop 48 hours tunring everything to mud. Sitting in the trailer with a space heater sucked.

So I decided to hunt up a cool old RV and open trailer to really enjoy being at the track. Scored a 1987 TravelMaster 36 foot RV with dual rear axles and a chevy 454 motor. Already has a tow package on it and has all new tires, brakes, fresh paint and 100% operational for heat, AC, plumbing, cooking, generator, propane etc. This thing even has solid oak cabinets and new hardwood floor. Got this for $5K

Now I can't tow my enclosed trailer with the RV so I just scored a open deck trailer with tire rack, new brakes and tires for $1500.

Good news is I just sold my enclosed trailer for $8K - created more trackside comfort and fun and actually got enough $$ left over to pay for any needed servic on these toys!

good on ya

i have been trying to convince my wife that this is what we need to do - she just refuses to sleep in an RV - still working on that

later on, you should be able to get a smaller enclosed trailer that can be towed by that - you have the all important second rear axle - i had built for me an 18' slightly narrower and lower trailer - this saved weight and more importantly wind resistance - brand new it was under $7k

That is awesome, all you need is a pool table !

You're gonna need those extra bucks to pay for the gas, with the Cd of that thing and 454 you're not likely to run cheap (although defo in style) I wish we had more of those big RV's in Europe, then even I might consider one.

lol - when you get to that level the bar bill is much higher than the gas bill

Very stylish Benspeeder. Enjoy!

Oh yea - I can drink more than the RV :-)

Figure I'll get about 6-7 miles per gallon driving easy - many folks say I can pull a smaller enclosed trailer but I worry about killing the trans and only going 45 mph up steep grades on the highway. Playing it safe for now will the open trailer. Might make a shield of sorts to protect the 968 on the trailer.

PS - Flash - my wife is mortified and thinks this is the most hillbilly PWT play ever. But the kids love it - even the mother in law likes it so she's warming up. Pretty soon I won't have to keep sleeping in it and she'll let me back in the house.

Wife and I have been considering one, that looks like a nice find.

Remember Flash, you can sell a pool table concept as a fancy dining room table for entertaining. Of course one need the 10*6 to pull off the dining room scenario

lol - not if you saw the dining room table she made me buy, and of course the 2 huge hutches to go with it
