What are your New Year's resolutions? - flash - 12-31-2009

I just thought i'd pose the question, for those introspective enough to think about such things:

What are your New Year's resolutions?

For those of you going out, be safe out there tonight.

To make it to 2011.

Perhaps, be just a little less abrasive to people.

Happy New Year folks and this forum have a better year than last.

I think it may be attached to someones "signature" on this site, and I was not aware that James Dean said it, but I am going to try to do more of the following:

"Dream like you will live forever - live like you will die tomorrow"

Don't procrastinate

Get in shape again

Oh yeay, and most importantly - install Flash's SC w/ compatible performance parts from Pete at RS Barn when SC projuect is completed

What are your New Year's resolutions? - Anchorman - 12-31-2009

Given how difficult 2009 has been, it's my pleasure to see it go. Among other things, something I'm going to try to implement in 2010 is a philosophy I just found while looking for an engine for my daughter-in-law's VW Bus (discussed on another thread): "If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!"

Funny Anchor. I like it.

My resolution is to stop spending money on stupid s&^t so that I can tighten up the engine and get a proper suspension in the car.

Thanks. What I'm really going to do is focus on getting my business stronger, so that I can afford to have RS Barn install the SC, so that I can go to Watkins Glen in May and beat my top speed down the back straight. Then life will be good!

<b>2009</b> for me was a great year! Over and above the daily blessings that we as a family experienced, it will always be the year in which I bought my <b>first PORSCHE</b>!
I had my heart set on getting a 928, which was my "dream" car for the past 25 years, and here I am, a proud and happy 968 CV owner. I was not even aware of what a 968 was up until six weeks ago. I have to thank my wife for steering me in the 968 direction, since she was not impressed with the 928 I selected to take her on a test drive in. I then took her to a dealer that has a 1994 968 Black-on-Black-on-Black CV, so that I could see first hand a 968. She then said: "If you are going to buy a PORSCHE, let it be this model". I then called up the former owner of my 968. It was the only AUTO TRADER add in my binder for a 968, along with probably 15+ 928 adds. When the car came into full view as the garage door opened, my wife looked over at me and in Portuguese (we lived in Brazil from 1989 - 1999) said: "This is <b>THE ONE</b>"!

<b>2010</b> should be an even greater year for the Kuik family.
As far as resolutions:
>We hope to make good use of the 968 and look forward to meeting up with members of the local PCA chapter and in September go to the PCA event in Sun Peaks, BC.
>Source out some replacement parts and add-ons for the 968.
>Our second daughter will be getting married in May 2010 so I am looking forward to the 968 helping out as a "stress reliever"!
>Look forward to spending some good father-son bonding time with my son as we detail our cars in the driveway (he has a 1991 NSX). The neighbors will be jealous.
>Look forward to some fun "968 mountain road driving" in the surrounding area.
WOW - 2010 is looking like it <b>WILL</b> be a great year!

Lose 80 lbs. Actually started last month. Got 10 off so far. No enriched flour, and keep the fat intake down. Unfortunately turning wrenches isnt much cardio. Gotta start hitting the gym again. Ive never actually made a new years resolution before. I started a diet a few weeks ago, new years just happened, and figured heh, might as well make it a new years resolution.

"Lose 80 lbs. Actually started last month. Got 10 off so far."

80 lbs is about 2.6% of the weight of a 968. So, in case you need some added motivation, dropping 80 lb is the equivalent of adding about 6 hp, which is nothing to sneeze at

i am on that bus too - for the last year i have not done any of the normal exercising i have done my whole life - the result has not been pleasant - we started our new regimen a couple of days ago - the last time we did this, it was good for about 10lbs a month

as for my own resolution, it is to complete the 968 projects i have on the table, and put down the drafting pencil and drive the car

Yeah, its really hard to avoid the stuff I cant eat when Im on the road, or on the go period. I really have to go out of my way when I need convenience. Seems like everything that is bad for me, is cheap, and convenient. 6 ponies is 6 ponies. Of course with the 6-700 whp I plan on producing, the numbers work a little different tho. lol - i've got 700hp too - of course it took 3 cars to get there

What are your New Year's resolutions? - Chris Vais - 01-03-2010

Resolutions for this year:

Need to loose weight. For the first time in my life I feel my age.

Rebuild my relationship with my wife. Twelve years of dealing with a drug addicted child and the related problems that come with drug abuse has weighed heavily on our relationship. Our son is 3 years clean and sober and it is time for my wife and I to look after each other.

Finish my enology training, I nearly lost my currently livelihood this year with the downturn and I don't want to be in that situation again. Better, I think, to be entirely self reliant. My brothers and I hope to have a winery up and running somewhere in Sonoma this year or next. I can't wait.

Last but not least, freshen up the car.

What are your New Year's resolutions? - Langley968 - 01-04-2010

Although this is a forum about the 968, I am pleased to see Chris in his New Years Resolutions, <b>first</b> writing about the importance of his relationship with his wife the joy of having a "drug-free" child and only then mentioning "freshen up the car". The car should be an enhancement to our quality & enjoyment of life. May all those 968 owners that have younger children learn to share precious moments with your children at the same time that you enjoy your car. That is why I am seriously considering adding rear sets to my Cabriolet, so my two youngest can "come along for the ride" once in a while!
