Emergency Over......I found it!!!! -

Man, I thought I had finally bought the big one on this seat thing. Turns out that when I dropped one of those little dashboard screws between the seat and the console.............(which I thought I had retrieved and turned out to be another one down there in hiding)...................it had gotten caught with the head of the screw in the turn down part of the lower rail and the threads jammed in the carpet. Jammed hard enough to stop the seat. I took a long thin screwdriver and was able to drive it between the screw and the rail. twisted and it and thank God ......the damn thing snapped at the head and I got it out. Seat now works fine. Crap..................hard to believe a little screw could cause so much trouble.

How did you discover you had a screw stuck in the seat rail? It sure would be nice if my immovable seat was caused by the same thing. I seem to remember hearing this kind of thing before. Something tells me I'm not going to be so lucky, though...

I think I spent at least an hour upside down with a small Halogen flashlight looking for something that could be causing the problem. It wasn't the motor becouse the seat did run back and forth. I did notice that when it stopped moving forward, it appeared to raise up AND kick right ever so slightly which to me confirmed whatever was stopping it was on the right side. I looked again last night after dinner. I laid the flashlight down aimed looking down the rail and pressed my head against the carpet as close as I could get to see down the rail with one eye. Thats when I saw what appeared to be a few threads. Looking harder, sure enough.............it was the screw that had wedged itself just under the overhang lip of the lower rail so when the upper rail came up and tried to slide over it the head of the screw jammed the forward movement.

Ah, so your seat was moving some. Mine definitely isn't, so it must be the switch(es), or the motor. Since nobody drives the car but me, I will probably put this one off until I can finally afford a set of racing seats. Thanks for the nice description of your problem.

the seats are not hard to remove, unplug, remove 6 bolts. I dropped a screw between the seat and hump, and could not find it, took abt 20 min. total to remove and replace.

Seeing what I just went thru............I think taking the seats out, cleaning then reistall using some NeverSeize would be a good rainy day project. I saw where the power wires clipped on the motors but didn't see the plu for the harness. Where exactly is it? Is there only one?

Wise- nice job. Tedious task requiring a good amount of patience. I've been living with inop motors for over 2 years now. The manual option allows my lazy azz to keep putting it off.
I'll get in there one day.

Hey,,,,, what are the electrical round plugs under the seat that go no where. They are under both power seats in my 92 . The power seats seem to work just fine.

Pat-
I'm pretty sure your right. The seats went from regular operation to a hit or miss situation, then nothing. I'm doing so much with the house that the car has taken a back seat, so to speak.
I haven't even installed my CF wing yet.

Kwikt, I think they are the plugs for factory seat heaters.
David, get that wing on...
