Ever driven near or through DC? I would think 400+ thousand citations would be low for those maniacs... (Rhude excluded of course!)

That place is a zoo, and there is no easy way around it road-wise.

i hate dc!!!

i got stuck for over an hour in dc when dragging the trailer - not sure how i ended up in town, as i was supposed to stay on the freeway, but somehow my gps sent me in and i was stuck - i went round and round forever trying to get out, with my gps constantly a block behind where i actually was misdirecting me the whole way - it was incredibly frustrating - i almost pulled over and abandoned the rig and called a cab and a tow truck

finally i just used dead reckoning and figured out which way was north and went that way

I may be learning a hard lesson about camera tickets in the next couple of days. I was in a hurry to make a meeting on Wednesday and paid little attention to posted limits.

Fingers crossed,

Jay

In DC there is always construction and things are always changing. On top of that there are times of heighten security subjecting all to detours and in some Gov building trunk checks with K9s.

I have been working outside of the DC area now for 6 years I dont miss it one bit.

Rhudes DC survival guide-
to survive in DC traffic you must be aggressive.
tip 1.Put your tire on the line when your ready to merge and don't brake. Just ease over w/ blinker on.

2. In the circles, move with traffic which is typically 15MPH over the posted limit. Washingtonians are not sympathetic to outsiders and wont let you over if you stop. So for everyone sake keep moving. Find your exit and circle twice if you must but don't brake as no one will match your speed and youll end up sitting inner circle waiting for someone to let you over as the guy behind you is loading his gun..

3. And dont be afraid to stand off with the cabbies. Those guys can be beutal, stand your ground as they are all bark.

Almost sounds like a guide to driving in NYC.

"i love my new radar detector - it tells me about those before i get there"

Not to hijack this tread, but what radar detector are you using these days?

I agree. As Im up there about every other month. But I think NY is worse.

Do to the conditions of the streets and the amount of grid lock. But our traffic police are worse. When they direct traffic its 10 X worse then the street lights.

BOT -Now that I think about it, I have never been pulled over for speeding in DC. I dont even see people pulled over for speeding. Its more of a parking ticket or fender bender kinda town (outside of the cameras).
