obviously a lot of people will be taking this opportunity during the winter to do a lot of needed repair and maintenance - no need to talk about that here
but, this also tends to get people thinking about what new toys they can get or what new mods they can do to make the car more fun to drive this coming spring
for example, i'm finishing up my engine bay stuff, and playing around with a couple of supercharger variations - i'll be corner balancing the car and getting yet another alignment - i'm also installing a new top with a zip out rear window - i may be changing out my deck again too
so, what are your plans for hopping up your 968?

I've got a long backlog of modifications that I'd like to get done to the car. My current estimates put them all right around the purchase prive of the car
But for this year I'm just looking at getting some M030 sways and getting some new wheels to go 17x9 all the way around. Hopefully I can actually find the right deal on the wheels I'd like, looking at the 996 10-spokes now as my top choice (

It's a full winter this year.
Just bought some SS flattened expanded mesh to make a new upper and lower grille for the car.
New RSB exhaust and brake lines in the works.
Widefire gasket, top and bottom bearings, forged rods, rings, head refresh and, wait for it, the almighty Supercharger. Bam!
I will have just enough money left over for gas in the spring I hope
Byte, too bad you bought an airbox. A lot of us have a modded box/chip/K&N set that we won't be needing anymore.

flash - Yeah I've given in and realized that I really like this car (was contemplating a Cayman S for a little bit) and that already I'll never get close to what I have in if I ever have to sell. So I'm not going to worry about it and just have fun with the car. Now what's this I saw about a second batch of superchargers...
DaveN - You're not kidding about having a busy winter. Sounds like come spring time you'll be having some fun.

Tim the supercharger makes the car's grunt feel a lot like the cayman. Best of both worlds if you like the ergonomics and handling of the 968, but with higher and broader torque.

OK Flash - plans are:
Big reds and 993TT 2 piece rotors front
Reds and M 030 rotors rear
SS hoses - fluid flush
Clutch master - (maintenance - starting to bleed down) - probably slave too
M 030 front spindles
M 030 front and rear bars with all the Weltmeister goodies
Koni coil over conversion front
Koni sport yellow rear (just scored a set of pristine M 030 rears with springs yesterday so I may try them also)
Front splitter
Repaint of side skirts
Variocam pads - (maintenance)
Powder coating of intake, V cover, and fuel rail cover
Upper and lower front braces and hopefully.....
Something (SS and/or black mesh?) to front grill?
Cat back SS exhaust - (yet to acquire)
Possibly upper camber plates - (radar on for some good used now)
And some maintenance on 968genes cab. With our schedules it's an ambitious list!

rxter that souds like the ideal setup for the 968. The power of the Cayman is great but I never found it quite as comfortable. I have the same feeling about my dad's 996 which I've spent much more time in than just a test drive. I'm looking forward to the details on the second batch that flash should be coming in a few weeks. In the meantime I'll have to go and re-read up on the supercharger thread

Some posts were deleted to clean up this thread, and bring it back on topic to the PLANS people have for modifications to their 968 this winter.

I'll be replacing the front hubs for billet units from RS Barn - I'm sick of just waiting for them to fail on me.
I'll also attend to the problem of the cheesy gearbox mount. I have a new mount that I'll fill with glue OR maybe I'll try some neat semi solid version - it is yet to be decided. While back there I'll fit a stuttgart shifting block as well.
My Tarett rod ends are gone so they will be replaced with new and hopefully better stuff (free of charge from Tarett - neat).
This is a maybe but I might powder coat my wheels white...

Having now actually been able to get mine out after the snow in the uk;
Tomorrow it goes in for Belts & Rollers, and if required, Seals kit, Balance shaft seal top hat drive x3, Oil pump drive, Cam chain tensioner guide rails. Also have gearbox/diff checked out.
New Digital Clock
Refurb of rear wheels
Poss MO30 Anti Roll bars
Replace most/all bushes
Geometry and 4 wheel alignment
See what chip I have (was upgraded in 1995 along with a Techart exhaust)
Repaint front and rear bumpers, bonnet and one sill. Renew both Sill Rubbers
Rotor Arm and dizzy cap
Oval side repeaters
That should keep me busy! And hopefully in-between all that plenty of track days!

3. Windage Scraper install as part of the rebuild
4. Supercharger, intercooler and ECU to match
5. Suspension upgrade (already have coil-overs and bigger sway bars, going to go for new bushes, etc)
6. Fix the broken front splitter
7. Fix the front lower stone guards (broken from trailer)
8. Lower race seat (already done)
Thinking about a new GPS/Video logger (already have as separate - but not linked).
