Original types of wheels on a 1995 coupe - williamoss - 12-31-2010

I have a 1995 coupe with the limited slip and MO30 suspension. I would like to know what were the original wheel types available for this model. I was told by Mike of CD Automotive (I found him in an ad in excellence magazine)that any M030, limited slip cars were all special order so wheels were not a stock item but and ordered item. Is this true? Or was there a stock wheel. Mine has 225/45ZR 17 94Y in the Front and 225/40ZR 17 94Y in the Rear.

Also does anyone know of a wheel restorer? I live in Portland Oregon. My wheels have some of the silver color chipped off, making the wheel look dirty when in fact they are clean but the silver has chipped off. Also you can see that the wheels (what is the name of this wheel) that I currently have have many fingers so they are very hard to clean anyway.

If it turns out that I trade in my current wheels what would be a fir price to ask for? And if I sell them after the fact, What price do I ask?

Thanks for any help on this matter.

Unless you ordered a different wheel, the standard wheel on a 95 equiped with M030 package would be 17" 993 Cup Wheels.

and M030 cars were not special order - yes, you could special order one, but a number of them were delivered to the sales floors as normal

You have the 17" sport classics. Mine is 7" front / 9" rear. the fronts are a little concave and the rears are covex or vis versa. I also have a 6 mm spacer in the front.

There are also a sports classics II available which are two piece wheels.

I bought mine from Wheelenhancement.....

The correct, factory 17" front wheel for the 968 has a 7.5" width. If you have 7"s they are off a 911.

The 17" wheel was part of the M030 package and there was only the one style (pictured above) available from the factory for a 95. You could get them painted body color from the factory as an option. More then 20% of the M030 did NOT come with limited slip.

The dealer would put anything on for you.

Bill, what color is your car?

not exactly true - you could have ordered the C2 Turbo wheel through the entire run of the car, (and in fact still can if you are ordering a car on which they will fit) but the 993 Cup was the more "standard" 17" - i've seen a couple of cars now with that on the sticker

My 968 is Aventine green gray and the wheels are not painted

wiliam - i am all but certain that the wheels in your pic above are indeed "painted", but are the factory paint, just as in the shot below that - that silver is paint

If it is paint then it is very, very thick. I say this because in my original photo I mentioned that in the wheels, (not in the picture as my camera was unable to show that close up,) there are chips which are a dark color, possible black. You can feel the thickness of the silver material. I would guess it to be from 1-3 mm thick. Originally I thought it was a material laying on top of the silver, like a tar like substance. I tried to scrape it off. But instead of the black coming off a tiny piece of silver came off making the black mark look larger.

Bob,

As you have often said, you could get anything done to the car at the dealer but from the factory, the C2 Turbo wheel (sometimes referred to as Cup 1s and are on my car) would be the 17" wheel option from 92-94.5, option code 403. The 993 wheel (which some refer to as Cup 2s) were the 17" wheel from 94.5-95, option code 398.

that would indeed be the "generic" 17 option for 95, but you could absolutely order the C2 Turbo from the factory on a 95 - you still can too - go down to your dealership and order a car - you can order almost any wheel you want on it, and it will be shipped to the dealership from the factory with that wheel - just like special paint, you just have to special order the car to get into that program - they are out there - i've seen a couple already, and i'm quite sure there are more

i am dying to see the sticker reprint list that is being amassed right now - the story behind it is going to be pretty interesting, and a bit of a shock to some people
