I live in Hendersonville, NC. There is a 94 coupe that I am looking at. 94K I am trying to get
info, on what to inspect and inspect. It is an auto. My main concern is the cam adjuster system.

Welcome,
See above link for a Prepurchase Inspection Form...it is very in depth.
I assume that you are concerned about the Timing Belt and Balance Shaft Belt. I think everyone on this forum would agree that if there is any doubt about the last time this was completed you should perform that service immediately. Failure to do so can result in catastrophic head damage (ask me how I know).
Best of luck in your search,
Jay

Thanks 94 and tama. I'm still checking it out. I have not been able to get the above link or two other links to the prepurchase
form to work but I think I'm finding things to check out. This car would be a five day a week daily driver for my wife with few miles
per day. She likes fun cars. I can do most of the work. Do you all think it makes sense?

I've got a pretty cherry example of the 968, but I would not put my wife in it for a long trip, or as a daily driver.
As an owner of three "vintage" P-cars, my feeling is it's too old, and there are too many new noises that, if not attended to with diligence, can lead from $ to $$$.
Just my $.02.

I can't imagine she would look too lady like getting in and out. I look like a stumbling drunken old fool getting out of mine! And I'm in pants! Fun to drive though.

Good points from everyone. Good luck in your search the only thing I can ad is any repairs or just regular maintenance on these cars r very expensive compared to most daily drivers. My last oil change and filter was $290.00

For the wife I would get a Miata (MX5). My daughter has one and it is "bullet proof". Not as much power but still lots of fun... My daghter wanted the 968 that is for slae locally "cheap" but it would be "too rich" for her budget to maintain.

Don't listen to these guys, 968 makes a great daily driver. $290 for oil change? That's ridiculous. 1 hr and $50 when done yourself.

My mech. charges 135 for an oil change and filter, and he isn't cheap. I also disagree about the assertion that a 968 cannot be a daily driver or even a winter daily driver with the right tires.

Winter drive? With snows and all wheel drive Infiniti g37xs I had to turn around yesterday after my first 180 had me off the road pointing in the wrong direction. Off the road 3 more times trying to get back home. Not 5 miles from home. This was icy roads and heavy snow. I consider myself a decent driver but this was the most unsafe condition I have ever encountered. I couldn't even begin to imagine taking the 968 out. Respectfully disagree about this car being a winter drive. Unless you don't count mountains and where it snows!

YUP, $290.00 just oil change and filter from Huntington Porsche on Long Island. That is when I brought a low lift for my garage now I will do it myself.

Good point RAP but that wouldn't bother her. She seldom wears underroos so maybe I'll have to hold the door for her. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/clap.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
Anyway - We drove the car this weekend after I spent a few days of research on it and it ran and drove just as it should
as far as i can tell (my first in a 968). I liked it but a little too much NVH (mostly N) for my wifes liking. Very comfortable
seats (opt.sport seats ?) and she's hard to please in that dept. So we passed on the car but I will try to post an entry
in the for sale section in case anyone might be interested. Much thanks for your comments. Nice forum!

Rap,
I do not want to hi-jack the post but it looks played out.
Do you have winter tires? Most sport sedans like your G come with summer performance tires that will not grip well under 37degrees on dry pavement. If you are driving in the snow or cold weather, you need all season or winter tires. That car should be brilliant in the snow.

I got caught short and did not have them on. It was still October! I put blizzaka all around and your right it works very well in the snow. The road way was ice but the tires should have been changed. I live in the mountains and know better!
