pretty ambitious ( and optimistic ) asking price..

speaking of which.. what do you guys think the incremental market value ( not the cost that goes into it..) of a turbo conversion is / is likley to be ?

Car looks nice (of course pictures always look better than in person). Having said that, assuming that the turbo conversion is "factory" and that the rest of the car can handle it, it likely goes like stink. I did an analysis about 18 months ago to figure out what was a reasonable market value for a concurs quality low mileage 968. Went like this.
What current car is most like the 968? I ended up with a 987 Boxter/Coxster S.
What does a 987 with similar mileage cost? About $40K
Subtract $5K for fixing old, crusty seals, belts, etc.
Then you can decide if you want to discount because the car is 17 years old, or are willing to pay more because it is 17-years old. Personally I ended up liking the 968 a lot more than the 987 - just feels better under my arse.
So, the answer is.
$35K in 2011 dollars.
Then, if you want to make yourself feel good about the purchase figure out what this would have cost in 1998 and add the time value of money to it. You'll end up around $55K and you'll be convinced that you are getting a steal.
Fair Market Value? I agree that this is optimistic, even for such a strong offering. I would guess that they would let it go for $29 without blinking. Wait them out for a few months and they'll sell it for $25.

I saw a nice actual conversion go for 30k a few years ago, when the market was at its supposed worst. This one is not factory spec. Factory spec was a 944 head, 951 rods, 951 airbox, etc, and mahle pistons. It is a clean looking graft of the 951 intake to the 968 intake though. The gearing was different too, I doubt this guy has gone through the trans, and replicated the gearing. Spec has a longer 1st,2nd, and 6th with a higher final drive. IIRC. Id say a properly done conversion is worth 30-40 to me. Things is, its something Id prefer to do myself. Its the only way to know it was done right, and if not, you know why, and what tree to bark up.

Is this Rader's car? If so, the conversion was very good. But his was sold only a short time ago, and it's hard to believe it is being flipped so soon.

Nice looking car. The treatment under the hood "looks" great.
Here are my questions. Who did the dyno tuning, and how many maps did they tune? What is the boost being controlled by? The factory cars used the 951 KLR, and I doubt they used that. How well did they equalize the pressures across the runners of the intake manifold? It looks great to graft one together, but blown headgaskets would suck even more on the 16v head vs the 8v. BTDT on the 8 valve. The number four runner has a tendency to over pressurize even in slightly raised boost pressures...
I know Pete has spent a lot of time with his getting it running right, and it's a factory car.
I didn't see LSD in the description either. Crazy they even made M030s without it. Jeff could tell us if this car started with one.
Again, great looking car, other than the color. I don't like red much. If someone buys this, I'd expect to spend some time tuning it. Oh, I bet it's a handful under boost as well. Good fun!

if this is the car i think it is (the one rader had set up), it's set up well, using a 16 valve head and modest tuning, focusing on drivability and not maximum power. i messed my chance to drive it when it was here.

This car came from Florida as I recall. I purchased mine from the seller and he is a water cooled Porsche fanatic. By the way, he said it drives incredibly well and goes (as previously mentioned) like stink.
