I had been on the Batch 3 list, when another Forum user with a Batch 2 kit decided to wait on his install. So with Flash's blessing (and warranty coverage), I bought it still in its unopened shipping box.
After rebuilding my engine from the bare block up twice in the last 6 months or so, I really didn't need another 968 project. But what the heck, you can never have enough torque, right?
Before starting the install, I pulled the balance shaft and cam belts to troubleshoot a tiny oil leak coming from the front of the engine. These belts are much easier to get at with the radiator out, so this was a good time to do it. I am pretty sure I found the source to be one of the through bolts of the oil pump. I used an o-ring and some RTV and am crossing my fingers. I also have a bad A/C clutch, so that is off and waiting for an overhauled unit to come from Zim's ($225 no core).
As others have said, this is a well designed kit. Flash has very cleverly used existing mounting points for the various brackets to eliminate the need for punching any new holes in our nice sheet metal. So far I have 4 or 5 hours in the install. I am taking it slowly and have taken a few things in and out a couple of times to make sure they are right. I am trying to learn from others to avoid wearing holes in oil lines and other such disasters.
The manual is very detailed. Flash has used a lot of color pictures to show how to do things. In my manual anyway these came out a little dark and some are hard to make out. (or maybe it's just my old eyes) In any case once you get the part in the general vicinity of where it goes it becomes pretty clear what needs to be done.
The kit is divided into a number of subsections. Flash has put the parts for each of these subsections in individual baggies. This makes parts identification easier, keeps from having too many loose parts lying around and helps match the parts with the manual sections. I've have had a couple of questions so far and have gotten fast responses as others who have done the install have also reported. The service is great; no doubt about it.
Assuming I get my A/C part quickly and I don't end up traveling somewhere this week, I hope to have this running by the end of the weekend. I'll post if anything interesting happens as I put this thing together.

Lance,
Congrats on the kit! Post-rebuild is the perfect time to do it, for sure. Best of luck with it all.

More progress.
Took a lot of time to get the belt on. VERY tight. Short call with Flash, and I got the tip I needed to get it on.
I think I'll have it installed by end of weekend.

Real progress. Actually the install is done. I drove it for one mile, brought it back in the garage to check everything and found a small coolant leak. I called it quits for the day, but I gotta say that one mile was awesome. I'll report more later. Vroom, vroom!

Remember no awesome miles until you break it in!

Dang, that is sexy! Maybe not quite as sexy as the CS Turbo, but I like the Supercharger idea a Whole Bunch!
Does it require a bunch of mods to fuel system, (ie pump, pressure regulator, injectors, filter, etc.)
Howw about head gasket issues? Need to change out the original oor anything fancy?
And what is the estimated (or verified) Horsepower with this kit? Torque?
Heck, it's crazy cause I don't even use all the power of my stock 968 w/ airbox mod, but the idea just seems... Cool!
With nice examples of our 968's available for reasonable money, I am thinking this would be a great longer term project... if i could keep my old old body working...
I may have a young relative that is willing to work on my sporty car for cheap next summer... I could direct and he could do the heavy lifting... oh, my!!!
Oh, and How Much for a full kit????

i will VERY briefly divert from this install to quickly answer the questions, but all of the information is here.
no mods to the fuel system at all
no fancy head gasket required. we do recommend that it be reasonably fresh.
the output charts are on the original thread for the kit, here in the Heavy Breathing section.
the full kit is $3995
i'm looking forward to hearing about the first real drive. lear has been working on his car for quite a while, and it's high time he had some fun driving it.

WOW.
D1 is to Porsche what Apple is to computers.
Which makes Flash Steve Jobs ..
Keep up the good work.
Congrats on the SC Lance
