Could one of the admins please have a look as to why the pdf instructions for the rear bumper removal procedure isn't opening? The thread is locked, so I had to start a new one to ask this question. Thanks.

I've noticed this with some of the other PDFs as well. I can't see the tail light fix, rubber side skirt gaskets, and a few others.

we lost a LOT of files when the old service provider did a software upgrade. they failed to do a proper backup (regardless of all promises and assurances to the contrary)

one by one as we find them, we are adding back in the missing files

If you need the rear lamp alignment PDF, I have it, and a bunch of others. I can't see how to attach them, though.

send me whatever you have, and if i don't already have them, i can put them back in

i just haven't had a chance to go through everything to find out what is missing. unfortunately, much is lost, as it was old content from eric, and i don't think we have a backup of that, as it happened in our first upgrade, and we trusted the service provider. we don't do that anymore.

OK, thanks for the replies. Hopefully the rear bumper cover removal is pretty self-explanatory. The front one was easy.

It's an 8MB zip, maybe your mailbox won't accept it. I'll try from a different account just to make sure mine can handle it.

Does anyone have a copy of the document? My car is being prepped for a full respray and the more info I can give them on stripping the better.

Do you have a copy of the workshop manual?

Tonite I could look up the pages describing removal if you dont have a print or digital copy

Thanks Flash..   I was hopeful Smile.  I have the workshop manual, but was hoping for more 'user' friendly stuff with cute pictures like the other documents.

Any chance someone has a rear bumper cover removal/installation guide they could send me?

Thanks fellas!

fairly easy

start by removing both rear lights

then the 10mm bolts from the supports at the bottom

then the two cross head screws in the wheel arches right at the bottom

then loosen the 4 clamps with 8 mm nuts in the boot, no need to remove just loosen off,

next the painful part....

above the rear lights in the holes right at the top there should be two 8mm studs and brackets, one each side, almost sure to snap off

this now leaves the 12 8mm self tapping bolts down each side of the boot wells, (6 each side)

easy on a LHD car, no battaery tray

the bumper should now be able to be removed

Many thanks, Waylander!

As for the sure-to-break studs and brackets, are these parts I'll need to replace and should have at the ready? I have the seal/gasket, are there other parts I'll need?

I only have a day to swap the rear bumper cover before I need to drive out so I'm hoping to avoid delays.

Cheers

The little studs are welded on to the car and are not replaceable, I would try giving them a good soak with release agent or even try to cut the nuts with a dremel

I snapped one of mine, I think I just looked at it a bit strange and it broke

I ended up drilling it and fitting a Rivnut instead,

A word of advice on the rear bumper seal, avoid stretching it at all costs if anything try to over stuff it into the groove, as they shrink fast so the more slack you can get into it the better, and dont cut it off at the ends, wrap it into the arch with the soft alloy rod, half each side

Many thanks again Waylander! I'm wondering now if I might fit the rear bumper cover inside the car to transport it? It's an odd question I know, I'll create a new thread.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the rear bumper removal instructions PDF that they could email to me?

Thanks!
