I have a early 944 Lux and now looking to buy a 968 Tip this week after weighting the manual versus auto gearoxs I have opted for the (1994) Tiptronic and looking forward to owning and driving it. -Comments to follow!

I would encourage you to go for it. My first Porsche a few years ago was a 944 Lux Auto and I just got a 968 Tip in Sept last year. The further refinements of the Tip and the extra power are most agreeable. In my opinion, and also based on the acceleration curves, there is not much performance difference with the manual apart from the first drag away from the lights. ie, once it is in the 30 mph to 60 mph bracket just enjoy.
