Looking at some 18's on eBay... They're a direct-bolt

F: 18x8.0 ET52, recommended tire 225/40/18

R: 18x9.5 ET47, recommended tire 255/35/18

Does that sound right?

They look almost bang-on but download the wheel calculator spreadsheet here and put in the dimensions just to make sure your diameter will be close and you won't need spacers.

which one are you lookin at

Is the one I use for estimating new rims and tires.

Veloce 3.2's They seem legit. claim 22.5# and 25.5# for F/R weight... three-piece, too. I'm very tempted. I wanted rims like Flash, but hard pressed finding any that were light enough and within my budget.... Thanks for the help, guys.

They will fit but if you go much wider in tyres they will probably rub. Effectively the wheel is sitting 5mm out further than stock. I had 245s with et52 + 12mm spacers and -2 camber and they rubbed - so it is close. It really depends on -ve camber. Normal offset for wider wheels is around 60mm if you want to run 285s, but then it gets close to coilovers.

Veloces are nice and I was looking at getting a set but the weight is the same as my C2's and I wanted something light so I have opted to get Forgestar F14's now; very light 17.5 lbs.

ET on 18's - ron1688 - 01-22-2012

I picked up the Victor Insbruck from Wheel Dynamics, 18X9 and 18X10.5 and they weigh 18.7# and 19.5#. They are a direct bolt on and they were pretty reasonable. The wheel and tire set up with Hankook V12 Evo came to about $2,600.00 including shipping.

Anyone else want to chime in on these? http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649

I am pretty sold on them, and I am ready to move forward with them. Any last comments? Much appreciated! Flash, you ready to sell your rims? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

ET on 18's - flash - 01-25-2012

lol - almost. i swear if i could find a 17 i liked, and i could get a tire on it i liked, i'd do it.

as for those, they have always been one of my favorites. i just wish they weren't quite so heavy. they aren't bad, but a bit more than i'd like.

just make sure you get the width and offset you want

ET on 18's - wmuldowney - 01-25-2012

I too like those wheels, but I think I'm holding out for 17", sucks cause I was gonna get the Turbo Twists till I found out that the twist is same direction all the way around with no L/R side.

My OCD/ADD/ADHD wasnt about to let that happen.

Really Flash, no good tires in 17"?

ET on 18's - flash - 01-25-2012

not in the widths i want to run. i'd have to compromise on width, and i'm not ready to do that yet. i got the ride quality issue sorted out, so it isn't as big of a deal anymore. sure, the 17s would still ride better, and if i decreased the width back down toward stock, the tramlining would decrease, but i'm just not that unsatisfied that i am willing to compromise at this time.

ET on 18's - wmuldowney - 01-25-2012

What widths are you looking to achive? I'm trying to sort this out for my self and I just keep going back and forth. Thought about keeping the 16" for "racing" and getting 18" for street or 17 and not change till start racing for real.

ET on 18's - flash - 01-26-2012

i have a 285/30 on the rear. that gives me the correct 25" outside diameter. i can't find a tire that wide in that diameter.

ET on 18's - tamathumper - 01-26-2012

I'd love 17" wheels, but have been scared away by the talk of scarcity of good tires in that size as well.

ET on 18's - ds968 - 01-28-2012

The best overall street tire ( Pilot Sport PS2 ...and the new PS3 as well ) is still available in abundance for 17s.. And not likely to go off the market anytime soon in that size. But, Michelins do have a slightly narrower footprint / contact patch.

ET on 18's - flash - 01-28-2012

many good tires come in 17s

the problem is that they don't come in a 17 wide enough for me, and still maintain a 25" outside diameter, which is what is required to maintain gear ratios and speedometer accuracy.

ET on 18's - ds968 - 01-28-2012

I still don't get how two tires with the same listed size, ratio, etc. can have a width difference that may be as much as 1" from one manufacturer to another ...

ET on 18's - jg968 - 01-28-2012

I too am very fond of the Veloce wheels. Saw this other brand the other day and actually prefer the barrel over the Veloce. Anyone know anything about them?

I was looking at these as well... IIRC, they aren't the right offset as recommended, plus I think they are heavier. They are faux three piece (bolts are there for show). Don't konw anything about the quality of the rim.
