auto transporter - Ed Russo - 01-23-2012

I'm looking for advice from my fellow forum members. I'm planning on moving from Florida to Mckinney Texas this summer. Would really appreciate any advice as to the best auto transporter.

Thank you

Ed Russo

While I haven't used them directly, Vehiport.com I did call about possibly shipping a car I was looking at, they are a broker and almost put bids out to drivers, inclosed is always going to be a little more.

i looked into doing getting a transport down to the shop who's doing the D1R SC install (currently there)... and couldn't find a single company i trusted. So, I drove it there. only 3.5 hours away... not the trek you are looking at.... hope you find a trust-worthy company.

Talk to Blau. He just did this!

I just shipped the speed yellow 968 coupe from Florida to CT. Pete at RS barn pointed me to eBay. You put your request in there and you will get a number of offers and prices. I didn't choose the cheapest but it worked out very well and for the $100 and what I would have paid in gas and airfair I had the car in front of my house with no additional miles.

Whatever you do - get covered, single-destination transport. I made the mistake of allowing Dependable Auto Shippers transport it on a regular carrier from CA to MA. They ripped off my apron (and threw it away), in turn destroying the apron mounting points in my bumper, took the car for a joyride and left it covered with mud when they delivered it (the other two cars transported with it didn't have a spot of mud). Once the mud was cleaned off, I found that there were scratches into the paint on almost every body panel.

After getting a quote for $5800 from my body shop to repair all of the damage they did (not even a full respray!), they offered me $2100 to replace the front bumper and the apron - the only two pieces they would admit to damaging.

I'm in the process of getting the car repainted over this winter and didn't get to drive it in the summer/fall due to waiting to settle my claim with the transporters.

Long story short - Single-destination, covered transport. No loading/unloading.

Can anyone recommend European transporters??

I'm moving a car from Switzerland to Southern France.

I note the comments about door to door and single vehicle transport.

Thanks in advance.
