On our road trip the glove box lock hung onto the key whilst removing the key and it blew up all over the place. Amazingly we were able to recover all of the parts. Looks like this.
Anyone ever put one of these things together? Any ideas as to which shim aligns with which cut on the key? Each shim (what I am calling the little metal piece that goes into the grooves in the cylinder) has a slightly differently sized hole where the key slides through. Each shim is supported in the cylinder slot with a tiny spring. Beyond that its a bit of a mystery to me. I'm not very good with puzzles of any kind. This one does not appear to be too difficult. Either the big holes line up with the key's high spots or the big holes line up with the key's low spots.
Looking forward to learning who the lock smith (or car thief <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> is in the group.
Thanks
