Have you given up the enjoyment of doing your own detailing?

Id like to know too. Id be willing to even come down from Mendo. I also need a shop for my belts. No tools here, and still waiting for Flash's DIY. Kinda hesitant to wiong it on my first 968 belt change. Ill start another thread for that though.

Not entirely, but I'm more of a wipe-on, wipe-off / top coat application kinda' guy, and way too lazy to do the whole works myself ; the clay bar, the buffing, etc, etc.. And while there are a lot of amateurs around these parts claiming to be pros ( anything from mobile services to car wash places ) I' ve seen some of their work and am not impressed. In addition, there is also the risk of over buffing segments of the clear coat off ( happens all the time I hear if you don't know what you're doing ) so I am very cautious about picking a shop that has a great track record for doing a perfect job.

Dan, call Dell Autobody in Campbell and ask if they can recommend an awesome detailer. Dell is the best body shop that I know of in the bay so they should have some high-end detailer referrals on-hand. If you do find someone then ask them to walk through the process with you over the phone. If they don't mention how to gauge the thickness of your clear coat or how to avoid taking off your pin stripe then keep looking. The prep, polish, and wax are easy by comparison, just very time consuming so don't be surprised if a very good one costs $500-1k.

Thanks, will do. Hover, $ 300 ( max ) is what I can probably justify given the car's current condition ; more than that would be a waste since I have a bunch of road "chips" on the nose , not to mention various other imperfections, some scratches, etc.. elsewhere on the car ( none of which are the type that would buff out ) so until I have it repainted no point in going with the best of the best in detailing, but still need a very nice job and without screw-ups.

Dan, if you take a cross country trip you could use my detailing garage for free. Just cost the sweat off your brow! Lol
