I've had my eyes on one of these cars for years..wanted not to see one everyday around houston area..since i followed the car in 92..i've only seen one..it was a hardtop. But at the same time knowing I would be running into parts problems too!.So far so good on restoring the ol gal..she's white with marine blue interior..she has 99,000 mi.s on her and just did a major maintence on her the last 3 months bringing her up to a cost of the avg. 968 cabriolet with tiptronic..Had a 912 Porsche back in my early days and really enjoyed the car..I'm an older guy but wanted another porsche and i like opening hoods and seeing an engine i can relate too! Hope there might be some members around my area...have joined the porsche club of america and also the lone star region..anyway looking forward to talking with everyione..thanks again for having me aboard..

+1 ..... I was going to comment on that but was too lazy, so I'm glad you did Bob. I'm not sure what the average age is on this forum, but it ain't "Spring chicken"
I take solace from a post a while back, from Matt I think, something along the lines of "how come old guys have such nice cars?"

.... in 6 months I shall be 70 years young.

Yeah, 'older' guy here too, soon 72 and have two 968, cab and sort of race car. And looking possible next one which should be right hand drive to suit better here in Australia. Best country to find one might be UK.
So as I might need some help on locating one, I am asking if Waylander you could reply to me with your contact infos to talk about this issue more.
Look forward to talking more.
Thanks and cheers, Mark Wekara, e-mail: m.wekara@optigolf.com.au

Welcome to the group!
I'm just north of Houston (Montgomery area) and have a 92 coupe. I normally attend the monthly LSRPCA north Houston "get together" (GTG) with my 968 -- which happens to be tomorrow. I see you're down in Alvin so would recommend one of the GTGs a bit closer to you. There is one in Friendswood the 2nd Sat of each month - see
Get Togethers – Lone Star Region Porsche Club (lsrpca.com) for details.

You're all making me feel young ... got my 968 this year at 47. First Porsche was also a 912, I think I was 28?

This has turned into a funny little thread .... makes me smile, us oldies (and the occasional young interloper) fussing over our machines. It reminds me of a cartoon I once saw .... picture a car sales yard, old couple looking at a spanking new sports car .... his eyes are popping out of his head, and the wife is saying to the salesman "he used to look at me like that!"

So, those of us that own 50+ year old Porsches...are "full" nuts?
Not to be confused with the British "full nut"...
Full Nuts - BSF
The name full nut refers to a standard hexagon nut. They are the most common type of nut and are available in a wide variety of sizes, grades, finishes and thread types.
BSF (British Standard Fine) is an imperial thread Introduced as a fine-pitch alternative to BSW and commonly used in engineering and automotive applications in the UK. It was superseded by the UNF thread type in the 1940s.
