I've just completed a conversion on my car to fixed headlights, so I'd be happy to sell you my stock headlights. They're in perfect working condition, include all the hardware (motors, mounts, etc.), and have very nice stoneguards attached to the lenses. Cloud9......would you mind posting pics of your conversion? Did you go with an already fabricated conversion or do your own?

I was planning to start a thread on my conversion when it was 100% complete (I haven't made the lexan covers yet), but as an intro, I would first and foremost say that I would NOT do this on a street car. It completely changes the character of the car, and it is a TON of work (took me a solid month). Having said that, I went with the approach AJ Hartman Racing used on Pablo Crespo's car, in that I removed all the hardware for the standard lights, bolted the new ones (Hella bi-halogens) to brackets attached to the bulkhead in the back of the headlight opening in the fender, and fabricated curved buckets out of aluminum flashing, which I then painted black. I then plan to make the covers myself, heating them up in the oven with a weight in they center to give them some curvature to match that of the fenders. Here are a couple of pictures; the car is still up on jack stands in my garage, so I can't get far enough away from it to get a good shot of both headlights:



   



   



So, it's basically the light-in-a-hole approach taken by many modern manufacturers. I think the look is passable for a track car (especially once I get the curved covers in place), but I much prefer the look of the stock headlights. Also, warning to anyone travelling in the Austin area, particularly at night: I will be using my headlights VERY sparingly, as I haven't figured out a way to change the bulbs without completely dismantling the entire assembly, which will take many hours. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Thanks, but again, this isn't something I would recommend for a street car. I only did it to take some weight out of the front end, and to free up some space to run brake duct hose. Aesthetically, it's a big step backward from the stock headlights, at least when they're in the down position. Hopefully, once I fill in the gap between the two pieces of flashing with some caulk (and then touch up the black paint), and add the curved lexan covers, it won't have too much of a "home-made" look. But I'm very much a form-follows-function guy, so for me, they do the trick. Hopefully the Hella's will do a decent job of illumination, too.
