Design 1 Racing opening its doors...........briefly -

After receiving a number of emails, phone calls, as well as comments here, I have decided to follow up on that to which I alluded earlier. I thought I had pretty much gotten to everybody, but as it turns out, there are a few people that dragged their butt and missed out on something they wanted. I am doing this so as to get to them.
The reality is though, that as time goes on, the demand for things diminishes. The likelihood therefore of any particular item being on any future list, and enough orders coming for it to justify it actually being made, also decreases. Don't put things off thinking it will always be around. This is a waning concern, and eventually everything will be gone forever. Only time and the ordering process will determine how long anything continues.
I am going to be extremely limiting in the amount of time I will spend on this. Between the paperwork and the packaging and such, things can easily get out of control. I am determined not to let this take over my life again. As a result, I am consolidating and condensing my tasks, and I cannot allow any deviations from the program. I promised the wife I would not get wrapped up in this again, but I also want to provide the things people need. I think this does both.
So, without further adieu, as anticipated, I am opening the doors for business on a number of items. The doors will open on May 1, 2013, and close again on May 31, 2013. No orders will be taken before May 1. No orders after May 31 will be accepted. The next opportunity will not be until at least Winter, and not likely until spring Again, this will be determined by necessity and demand.
Any orders that have come in, assuming they make the minimums needed for manufacture of each item, will be processed and filled. If we fail to make the minimum for any particular item, I will refund in full the amount for that item on June 1.
All orders must be processed through the Design 1 Racing website. No phone orders or in person orders will be processed.
All shipping will be via UPS. All international orders will be accompanied by a full amount invoice. No special shipping arrangements or alternate methods will be offered.
All items will ship at the same time. Shipping should occur on or about June 30.
The list of items that will be made available are:
Exhaust Heat Shield
Strut Tower Brace
Caster (Lower Suspension) Brace
Firewall Brace - Rev 2
Short Shift Kit
Power Steering Tensioner
AC Tensioner
Stage 2 Supercharger Tuning Kit
Stage 3 Supercharger Tuning Kit
Due to higher minimums, I do not anticipate enough orders for, and therefore will not be making:
Black Mesh Grille
Supercharger
Stainless Clutch Line
Supercharger Engine Cover
Chassis Braces will also be made available. These have no minimum quantity required, but have an 8 week lead time.
Splitters are still available and can be ordered now - 1 week lead time
I still have a couple of Supercharger Kits available, but orders are coming in. 1 of the 5 remaining kits is gone, with a second awaiting the wire transfer any day now, and a third spoken for and going away not long from now. These are just too hard and time consuming to do, as well as minimums for a lot of the parts, so I don't see any more of these getting made. I think the cost to do them in one-off fashion will be too high for anybody to be interested.

Thanks Flash - this is just what a lot of us needed. Let's hope by doing it this way you can keep your sanity, and your spare time!

Poop. I only realized I had a few cracks in my lower grille when I was installing the supercharger last month. Hopefully enough other people will chime in to make it worth a run, someday.
How many would it take to be worthwhile? Or what do you think the cost of a virtual one-off would be?

Great stuff, a few bits there I'd like.
Re superchargers, any with the relevant parts for non air con models for us UK sports owners.........

tama - it takes a dozen to make it make sense. a one-off would be about $150
Ab - no - however, i do have the design for the AC delete kit, which would then allow for it to work. it won't work with the normal AC delete stuff. i'll look into what it would cost to do a one-off of that. i'm guessing somewhere around $350

yeah - i figured between spring fix ups, the time since i ran out of stuff, and new owners, it was probably a good time.
the site will be ready to take orders on the 1st. i just need to verify my current vendor pricing and materials costs, so i don't goof up and end up getting creamed. i'll have all that done in a few days.

OK, thanks. I assume there's a PITA factor as well, so if it ever becomes worth your while to do at $150, just let me know and I'm in. It bugs me knowing there are cracks in my grille.

it is a pain. the material is fragile. the sheets are huge. cleaning the oil off so they can be powdercoated, without screwing them up, is a pain. handling them without getting sliced up is a real challenge. transporting them, without scratching them or having them get snagged on anything sucks. packaging is also a pain. i had a couple of them get hurt in transit.

I'd be up for the grille as well. I washed the car the other day and kicked myself for not getting that when you still had a few left.
The SC kit replaced the alternator tensioner right? I'll plan to order the other 2 tensioners after looking at the POS that was on the alternator.
I've got all the other stuff on your list

it replaced the AC tensioner. there is no specific alternator tensioner, as it is on the same belt as the AC. so, you only need the power steering tensioner.

ooh - forgot about that - i'll bug the guy and figure that out in the next day or so.
it would really help to see a shot of your engine bay showing the alternator area, so i can make sure there is nothing else that would need to change to be able to bolt everything up. the bracket and its pulley i can handle. i just want to make sure there is nothing else needed.

sorry - no
the one shot of the front of the engine apart that shows the alternator and what looks like a delete bracket might work, if it were a LOT bigger.
