Ok
I have bought my 968 now one year agoin good condition (not great) from a man in Germany with 165000 km's and full history .
But did many "repairs" in the meantime.
Brake disks + pads, some respray, polished the paintwork, changed the rubbers between the panels, installed Focal speakers and top radio cd,installed recaro seats ( i think the original seats are horrible ),changed the leaking clutch masterpump.
Now the car drives and looks great !

Oh Right
The only thing i have to look into is the rev counter dropping to zero lot off the time.
I have already repaired it and calibrated it a year ago but now it starts again.
Only problem in disassembling the steering wheel is you have to deconnect the airbag .
The famous warning light !
Thats the reason i am now going to make a OBD1 interface :-)

Welcome. Disconnecting the air bag is ok as long as you know not to turn the car on while it's disconnected. Most of us find out the hard way about this rule. There are plenty of threads here to help you build the OBD I circuit board, get the software and test it out.

You do not need to disassemble the steering wheel to remove the gauge cluster...
