Around noontime today, southbound on 101, approx 50 miles south of San Luis Obispo, a Wimbledon green 968. 'Ya don't see many of them around ! A few cars behind it a Ferrari Maranello followed, and then a bunch of other sports cars, all southbound, as I was driving in the opposite direction. I'm thinking some event must have taken place in Monterey ? Anyway, the only car that really mattered was that 968, LOL, so wondering if it was anyone we know..

Dan, there was a beautiful red coupe with 18" turbo twist wheels at 280 and Edgewood last week. Do you know that one?

Nope, never spotted that one. I've seen a red coupe around this area a couple of times, however and IIRC, that one has the 16" wheels and it does look to be in ok cosmetic shape.. but definitely 16s on it. . BTW, speaking of red cars, that guy who lives up the street with the Ferrari F 40 was out again today ( I see it and sometimes just HEAR it on the street, almost every weekend. By now that exhaust tune is so familiar it cannot be mistaken for anything else, LOL..) Back to 968s : I believe my neighbor who lives down just a handful of houses still has the black 968 cab, though he never drives it, there is that red one and then a silver one somewhere up the street from me , and of course the slate grey on which I left a " I want to buy your car if you're interested in selling it, price is no object " note, along with a forums " calling card " , so I think it's just weird that a car as relatively rare as ours has four different ones within maybe a a mile or so from one another. Five actually, when you count mine :-). But the Wimbledon green on 101 looked great ! Although, I'd take that Maranello behind it any day, I love that car, and still regret not
buying the midnight blue 550 the local dealer had for sale at $ 75 k a few years ago ( brilliant dark blue
one with lessthan 50 k miles on it ..). That said, during the test drive I just did not get the same one with the car feeling I have while driving the 968. Sigh..

Dan, if price is no object, if and when I go to sell mine, may I assume the deal is already done?

First you need to paint it in an acceptable color :-)

Midnight blue, cobalt blue, iris blue, riviera blue, tahoe blue, horizon blue, ( notice a pattern here, lol.. ? :-) ) , polar silver, slate grey, or speed yellow. I'm not too picky.. :-)

Funny, I just picked up a Wimbledon Green M030 Coupe. Very excited about it! Only 9 Wimbledon Green coupes (and only 2 were M030), and apparently at least two in California. I bought it from a guy in Los Angeles, and he barely drove it, so wasn't him on the 101. After Flash and I install my stage 3 super charger thirteen days from now (not that I'm counting down the days!), I was actually planning to head up the 101 to visit family in Marin County, so keep a lookout!

I liked the Wimbledon Green Cab that was at Paso this year. Congrats on scoring a coupe in that color!!!

Thanks, Jake! Yeah, I fell in love with Pauli's car in Paso. Got lucky finding this one, although I worked for months to convince the buyer to sell it! Pretty cool that it is also one of only 99 factory M030 cars. Besides the super charger, also installing most of Design 1 Racing gear, including strut tower brace, firewall brace, castor brace, short shifter, AC tensioner, exhaust heat shield, and power steering tensioner.

Yup, love that color. And in a coupe..you lucky dog ! Enough to make one turn " green with envy " . Wonder if there were any tip Wimbledon coupes, hopefully the person that owns one of those puts it up for sale on this forum. That would be a very nice commute car for me :-) :-)

You're in luck! There is a Tip on Auto Trader in Houston asking $8,999 (assuming it is not already sold, as Auto Trader is often not up to date). Though if I were looking for a Tip, I would go for the Oak Green in Albuquerque that has a Design 1 supercharger installed!

Thanks, I"ll check it out ( doubtful at that price it's in excellent condition inside/out which is what I'm looking for ) . Flash told me about the oak green, but I don't like that color at all. Nor tne adventutine green. Other than Wimbledon, the amazon green ( which is almost blue..) would be the only other green color I'd buy. And yeah, before I buy another one I want to make sure I can get another stage 3 for it, particularly with a tip.

ds968 - 09-03-2013
Nothing of the red, black, or white variety. It must be a metallic paint, with the sole exception of speed yellow, which I would definitely consider .
So essentially, must be a coupe, must be a Tip, must be near-mint condition inside/out and in excellent mechanical shape, must be in a metallic color, except of course no amethists, or corals, or pinks, or oak and adventurine greens , yada yada yada ..
I am really picky ( as if you couldn't tell by now, LOL ) . I do realize the probability of one fitting that crieria coming up for sale is extremely slim, but I'm in no rush so if it does surface great, if not, c'est la vie..
