To start off, I fully realize the chance of prevailing and attaining any material result in a lawsuit of this nature is about as great as a snowball's chance in hell, but thousands upon thousands of baseless suits are filed ( and settled ! ) every year on far shakier grounds than this concept , so here's an idea : if for no other reason but for the effect publicity might have on Porsche who is screwing so many of us with their continuously increasing number of No Longer Available parts for the 968, if any benevolent attorneys ( I know what you're thinking,LOL, that's an oximoron , all attorneys are bad...yeah, until you need one ! ) who might have some time on their hands and want to take a pro-bono ( ha, there's another snowball chance..) run at Porsche just to kick them in the ankle, I'm thinking a class action lawsuit might get their attention :-) . Also some much needed needed media attention to the plight of those consumers who happen to love 20 year old cars and might find themselves permanently stranded because of some critical part where no aftermarket alternatives exist, just because Porsche deems it's not profitable to support this segment of their vehicles . Again, I know that argument does nothing to attract sympathy from any court, or any member of the public who think anyone that drives a "PORSH " deserves nothing, but it could nevertheless be a fun challenge for some lawyer that has a little spare time and does not need the money, but wants to test the waters and just give Porsche a kick in the ankle :-) :-). Any takers ? No ? Come on, where is your sense of right and wrong and the drive to have some fun with Goliath in the media.. Where is Gloria Allred when we need her, LOL ?

And don't forget the few still-available parts that for no apparent reason carry insanely high price tags. $500 for a strut mount?? It's like Porsche actively wants these cars off the road!

Not following - why would any business (carmaker or otherwise) continue to provide parts for completely obsolete products with nearly zero demand? It definitely sucks for us, but if I were Porsche, I'd do the same thing (ducking to avoid slings and arrows...)

kwikt - the good news about injectors is that there area whole bunch of used ones out there, now that everybody has stepped up to the stage 3 sc kit, and thereby making their oem injectors unnecessary



i agree with cloud. it sucks for us, but it is the nature of our system. now, if we were smart enough to be socialists, we could see that all such needs are taken care of by the government (also ducking to avoid slings and arrows - lol)

You might have something in the states where there are mandatory regulations regarding specific time frames which parts must be made available (I think it is five to 7 years) after a model is discontinued, but seeing that Porsche is in a European country not bound by US laws I think you will not have any standing.



I think auto manufacturer's that import cars are held to provide parts and support for their products only until the warranties expire.



So a pipe dream at best.

Yeh, I have to agree I wish there was a way to get parts we need especially comedic ones but Porsche won't make them just for a few of us.

Comedic parts ? Do our cars have funny bones ? Ha, could not resist , that autospell feature drives me nuts also :-). I'm surprised it did not use cosmic parts, at least that would have been more fitting given the astronomical prices Porsche charges for them..when available .



Anyway, a pipe dream for sure, but someone needs to kick an 800 lbs gorilla in the ankle once in a while.



I wonder how many parts have been discontinued for their precious 911 lines whether as far back as 80s or 70s or even 60s production models.. Guessing you can still find most of what you need for those. High prices maybe , but likely available .

Uhh, so like..does that mean I now have double the chances for NLA stuff ? Oh well, $ 11,500 for a nice, smoothly running supercharged 968 which might at some point in the future also serve as a parts donor, is a heck of a deal , IMHO .

flash is right. In my research yesterday I came across a website about the new Cayman. Out of 50 comments, 25 were comments by non-Porsche owners that Porsche owners are douchebags, 23 were comments by 911 owners claiming the Cayman is only for people who can't afford a "real Porsche", 1 was a compliment about the car, and 1 was simply "meh".



I came away disappointed with the 911's target market.

Nothing new here! A majority of 911 owners have zero idea how to drive their car or what it's capable of. When you start at this point, I think we should have nothing but sympathy for this unenlightened mass of pysdo owners! They don't even know what they don't know. Mired in ignorance!

Don't know about you, I don't have time to read 2,409 pages of legalese. Too busy working to make money, so that I can afford healthcare, and apparently so that I can pay for those that don't work too.



I see that our government can't afford to provide death benfits to our hero soldiers, wonder if welfare and food stamps will go out on time?

here we go. something many people don't realize is that most of the people who don't have health care actually have jobs. the right wing press that has been laying the blame on the unemployed. that's nonsense. most of the unemployed already qualify for government health care. the largest group of uninsured people work in retail stores, restaurants, etc. they don't get it from their employer, and can't afford it on their own. it's them that we need to provide for.



back on topic though.



while i'd love to see cars like these supported more by the manufacturers, it's the aftermarket industry that has always taken up the baton. there is usually a long lag though between factory and independent support. we are in the middle of that gap right now.
