After three 944s (89-daughter crashed/88-I was t-boned/and 89-last one still running great-a keeper)-I finally found my 1994 968 coupe standard transmission with under 60k miles about 6 weeks ago. Wow. Great drive! Already been to NY and back...Arctic white/dark blue. Still getting used to the color after years of red/black and black/black. Live in Wilson, NC since May. Worked at Rennwerke Porsche (the best) in Elmsford NY and dC Automotive down here for a while. Will need a set of 17" 993 Cup (Cup 2) wheels come spring-my car came with 18s (yuk) and unattractive Moda wheels (double yuk)...Having fun but running up the miles too fast!

Congrats! I recently purchased my car and put some 993 Cup (Cup 2) wheels on it...I love the look! I think 18's look too big for this car. My wife says size does not matter....I don't know what she means by this.....

on the subject of wheels, i keep seeing people typing "93Cup". i have to edit that one all the time. the auto correct is supposed to catch it, but it seems to just mess it up. it happened twice in this thread alone. did you both try to type that? did it do something weird?



forgetting about colloquialisms and misnomers, just for clarification, there is no 93 anything wheel, let alone cup. wheels are not named by year, but rather by model. it's 993, referencing the car that it came from.



and i like the looks of some 18s, but not the problems that go with them. if i had it to do over again, and i could get the tires i want, i would have a 17" wheel made.

Interesting-in my service experience we call them cup wheels or93 Cup (93 Cup (Cup 2))-not 993. Just my experience. Learned something-thanks!

i don't understand that. no porsche wheel was ever referred to by year like that. by the way, the wheel people are calling "93cup" did not come on the 93. it was not available until late 94 models.



they were also never called cup by PCNA, with the exception of the 993 Cup. the whole "cup" thing originated in europe when they saw the wheels on the 964 Cup car. replicas of those were then made for the 968 and other 911 models, and misnomered there as "cup" wheels, later to be called "cup 1" when the 993 Cup wheel came out and was misnomered there as "cup 2"

Also-18s don't always clear on tight turns in my experience (evidence in front wheel wells-white car-Nitto tires). Too fat a figure for the line of the car. But hey-my prejudices stem from the technicians with whom I've worked.

depends on the tire and the wheel offset.



i have a 285-30-18 on the rear on a 10" rim. ET52. 1.6 degrees negative camber. lowered a bit over 1" - no clearance issues



i have a 255-35-18 on the front on a 9" rim. ET57. 1 degree negative camber. lowered a bit over 1" - no clearance issues.



i worked really hard to nail that down though. it took quite a bit of calculating and trying things to get it. still heavier than i'd like, but tire availability is a problem, and with as much power as i am now putting out, i need the tire.
