Just started happening. Either takes many tries to start, then when running perfectly it will die and shut off after letting off throttle or coasting. I have a great mechanic and he can't figure it out either. Help!

Good luck, that's a very difficult problem without much to go on. Have you swapped the DME with a known good one??

The DME relay is a relay that supplies power to the fuel pump when the engine is running
These are a known failure point, I always have a spare in the car
Replacement is a 2 min job

It could be so many many things from the ignition switch, wiring harness, coil, distributor, etc.
Wild guess: ignition control module?
Did you get a spare DME relay yet?

Check te motronic faultcodes. Perhaps the pickup from the crankcase is worn.

At an educated guess it will be the crankshaft position sensor or its connection.
It could also be the ECU they suffer from dry joints

It's got a bad coil is the problem. Except we can't find one to purchase. Does anyone know where to get a new or used coil? Thanks

*That’s just great. After tensioners being NLA for 2-3 years, now nobody has coils. If I can find any specs, I’ll post them. Shouldn’t be too difficult to find a replacement.

Not criticizing you here, but can you have another mechanic look at it?
One can easily test a coil with a multimeter. Your problem could be so many things (ICM, crank sensor, wiring, etc.), so you need someone with the skills to troubleshoot it. Just 2 cents worth, & probably worth less than that.
