Ha, great find Roland ! Oh, those sneaky Germans, stealing design ideas from Italains ( but now it starts making sense why the 968 is so beautiful ) And damn, had I known about this particular model I would have bought it in a " New York minute "..assuming I'd locate one, with just 100 made though, and none in the US that would have been quite unlikely, lol. After my Fiat 124 coupe I bought a Maserati Merak, and although arguably better looking than this Fiat , I liked my Fiat so much, had I seen this model for sale I probably would have never even looked at Maseratis.

Dan, I always very much liked the design of the Fiat 124, always thought it was a great looking little sports car.   Maserati Merak looks kinda good, but I never had that heart felt love / draw for any of the "Italian supercars", the wedge shaped ones including the various Maseratis, Ferrari, Lambo.    I know it is just individual taste, but my heart always went and still goes to the British and German sports and GT cars, with honorable mention to the C2 Corvette (63-67).  I am sure it is based entirely on the images that were imprinted on my brain in the teen years.  I still want an MB 280SL, maybe a 70 or 71, simply because I think the design is some of the best eye candy ever made.

The wedge shape is what I detest mostly in cars ; I would not, and will never be seen in a Lamborghini even if someone gives it to me for free; I'd sell it right away and buy a Ferrari or an Aston Martin, or a Maserati ; curves everywhere on those body lines. ( btw, regarding Lamborghinis, I'm not talking about the Miura, that's an exception ..it's the more recent ones that I find intolerably garish ) . The 124 was cute but not a great looking car by any means, I loved it because it was pure joy to drive . Not sure what exactly about it made it that appealing to me , it was a combination of many things , but I had a smile on my face from the moment I got into it until I got out. The Merak, was indeed somewhat angular but I bought it because it was dirt cheap ( badly rusted and not in the greatest mechanical shape ) though I was lucky because one of my close friends and soccer teammate had an Italian car repair shop so got lots of fixin' for free.

I also had a Fiat 124 4 door sedan which was a blast. Which I knew what I know now  about driving then!! It was the first model year and had some problems but was fun and it afforded me the opportunity to do numerous things which I won't relive but sometimes remember. Orange with a crème interior. ohh la la
