An interesting observation - Chris Vais - 05-14-2026

When I had my 968 at Porsche Marin to get the heater control unit worked on, I noticed that there were 3 new or nearly new 911 GT3RSs in the service area. All three had California license plates attached. Now a GT3RS are outright race cars cost north of $300,000. I asked one of the sales guys if the owners actually drive these cars on the street. His response was that they aren't very often driven on the streets for obvious reasons. So my question was why own a car like this and rarely drive it. He said they wind up sitting their owners showcase garages on display. And then he says "Well this is Marin County, after all, what did you expect". He also told me these cars are routinely purchased held for 6 months and re-sold at a higher price.
