First ride in my 9 - Ego Complex - 03-09-2005

My car was shipped by Exotic Car Transport, and I received her on Monday. She made her long journey from Denver CO to Saint Augustine Fla.

I am hooked. The 9 handled like nothing I have ever driven before, and had jaws drop from envious neighbors as I pulled into my driveway with yet another German "toy". The 968 resides directly across from my BMW 850CI. Both are 94's. If years of production represented a vintage like wines, I must tell you that 94 is a great year for me with my cars. 94 300zx, 94 Benz S350, 94 BMW 850ci, & 94porsche 968.

The car blows me away. Its beautiful lines are well understated and may go unoticed to the casual observer. Two words come to mind when I study my 9, Simple Elegance. This car will not catch the corner of your eye like an Lotus Espirit would, but more often than not, you will see people doing a double take when they catch you going by.

The stock exhaust sounds beautiful, the seats are true drivers seats, they grip you and hold tight, but comfortably. The sound system is average, but Flash has provided several good ideas to remedy that. The cabin is actually quite roomy with more head and legroom than my 850. I am now spoiled, I will never be able to purchase another car again.....unless of course it is a Porsche!! One dream has been fulfilled. Now if only i could run into Jennifer Love Hewitt........

Welcome to a better world...

They ARE a hoot to drive, and not to worry, they DO get attention on the road.

Drive it EVERYWHERE and you will get really spoiled. Nothing like running 15k + miles per year in a 968... Pure heaven!

Enjoy!

Congrats, lowest mileage 968 in the country?? Looks like it!

I can't help but ask you to comment on how the 9 compares to the BMW 850? Is it an auto? The 850CSI is one of my all time favorites, especially with M parallel wheels, superb! Sweet V12 power and sexy design!

While shopping for my 968 I came across two 850's, one for $12.5K and one for $15K. I was kind of flabergasted. I couldn't believe they would be that cheap. I wonder if they suffer from the same disease that the 633's did: The 60K service called for a $4500 head job so you saw a lot of them with ~ 50K for $3,000-$4000.

I'm just glad they did make a Cab, I would have had a hard choice! But definitely a beautiful car. I'm holding out for a '74 3.0 CSi though.
