This is the second time my SC'd 968 could not even keep pace with a
family sedan ! Actually more of a station wagon in appearance than a sedan. A new Audi
RS 6 outran me in spite of my best driving efforts, although it was in a straight line so maybe I would have dusted him in the first cornering opportunity ...if he wasn't already half mile ahead of me by then ..

. Oh, the humiliation ... :glare:
Then I went home and looked up the specs of that car - just a little more power than the D1R SC's output.

Yeah, but that's only because he still had the paper license plate on the car so that's what helped him ; the weight reduction !!

See, that's why I never bought a SC, doesn't really change the car, it can still get waxed by 650 hp sedans.

Maybe you need two superchargers to compensate for the lack of cylinders.

Did he take you off the line? How is your eye to hand? Perhaps Hoosiers!

Bottle of N2O, why is there no nitrous pack for the 968?

LOL , as a matter of fact I do have two superchargers, so had I transplanted the engine from the other 968 into the hatchback space and connected it to the transmission , with one pulling and the other pushing, the " combined " 700 + HP would have been more than enough to embarrass him .
No, not off the line, I NEVER partake in that nonsense ...it was from a rolling 65 or 70 mph, and he was egging me on for about a minute before I took the bait just to see what that car can do .. I know the R designation in any of the Audi RS models translates to a lot of power, but being a mild looking sedan - actually a station wagon at that - and thinking it probably weighs over a couple of tons I thought it might be close. It wasn't close , but it wasn't ridiculous either. Although, no contest at all .
The " ridiculous " was my bugging a Ferrari 599 Fiorano , which I knew would turn me into a lamp post but I still wanted to experience up close and in person just how fast those cars are . That happened soon after the stage 3 SC install in the six speed btw, so I was feeling a bit cocky , lol. This was on a nearly empty 3 or 4 lane highway heading out of greater LA toward Palm Desert , so as soon as I noticed the car ( from a considerable distance behind it ) I floored it and was probably going 140 + as I approached him . He may have been cruising at 80 or 90 mph at the time when he saw me and stepped on it . I can best illustrate what happened this way : imagine a bird's eye view of the two cars and then visualize my car suddenly shifting in reverse and going backwards at a high rate of speed while the Ferrari disappeared in the other direction . That's precisely what it felt like and no doubt what it looked like to any birds flying above and laughing their feathers off at the scene below .
Yeah, THAT was ridiculous , the RS 6 was not nearly as bad but sobering , nonetheless .

2 engines in a 968 would be irrational, if for no other reason than the additional belts and rollers.
And heck, I'm impressed that you had the stones to get your car up to 140+ on the road to Palm Springs, regardless of the presence of the Ferrari. I get north of 100 around here and I break out in a cold sweat, knowing what the local gendarme will do to a speeder of that degree. Here, they use a sophisticated scale which is based on your speed, your make of car, and your location to decide if they will use the pepper spray, the Taser, or the shotgun beanbag round. And then it gets really nasty.
The guy in the Ferrari needs to be reminded of the Klingon saying "there is no honor in conquering the weak".

I was younger and more courageous ( aka risky ) then.
The guy in the Ferrari had a girlfriend with him so I'm sure he was compelled to impress her with conquering the weak .
And the guy in the RS 6 had a passenger as well .

Recently saw a Maserati Quattroporte Zenga edition at Cars and coffee, liscence plate 191MPH. he said he would race anyone there, as long as they had 5 on board

FUGLY. i put it right there with the panamera.
those ports on the side are distracting. they need to make up their mind if it is going to have curves or hard edges. that indent at the rockers is too "80s". the lower front looks like the design lab couldn't agree on what feature to have, so they added them all. the nose dives down too abruptly. the mirrors look like bricks. 7 blade rims with 5 lugs??? the rear looks like the bangle bungle of the 7 series bmw.
it's a jag on steroids.
