Need to Replace the Fuel Gauge - Jason Judd - 08-16-2005

We're finishing off the dash and need a replacement fuel gauge that will work with the factory sender.

But, my mechanic doesn't know of a gauge that will mate/work with the factory unit mounted in the tank.

Does anybody know of a solution?

Here is 1/2 of your answer. If you can find or calibrate a gauge to these resistance values, then you are almost there:

Thanks for the info!

Now, if I can get in touch with a sympathetic soul over at VDO or Autometer, I might be able to get it done.

VDO was very helpful...

Autometer was more of a problem, as they couldn't adjust the Ohms for me.

But since the rest of my gauges are Autometer, I've decided to use their gauge and learn to adjust visiually. When the Autometer gauge reads 1/2, I'm closer to 1/4 tank. That works for me.
