I think they'll look really nice, especially on your silver car. The offsets look perfect for my taste also. (I'm currently 52 front and 50 rear).

1 word. BEAUTIFUL!

Black wheels..what do you think? - Brian - 09-26-2005

are those white wall tires?

i haven't seen those in years!!!

my dad once bought some on sale for a van we drove and had them installed inside-out so we couldn't see them. i didnt' believe him until i went under the van to verify. that guy is a bargain shopper!

i do agree that the black rims with the silver car look really good.

I have been watching that style of rims from that ebay shop for a few months now because I love the look of the back center with polished edges. But just wanted to point out I have seen this "oemstyle4less" seller list them for as high as $1300 and as low as $600 for the exact same 18" rims. Here is a yellow version currently at $600 for example:

This huge of a fluctuation in price sent up a bit of a red flag for me but if you can get them at the $600 price its probably a good deal.

Would these aftermarkets need to stay off the track?

Brian -- no those aren't white walls its just the photoshop job making the polished lips of the rims appear a little funny in the merge into the tires.

a few things to think about:

be very careful about offset choice - at those sizes, you can run into problems with the wrong offset

watch your weight - 18" rims can get heavy very fast - there is a fair amount of concern about the integrity of the spindles and such with heavier rims, with a number of reports of failures

when asking about "the track" are you talking about racing? if so, there are rules specifically there to tell you what you can run and what you can't - DE events don't generally care as long as they are in good shape

take a look at the lug holes to make sure you can run the nuts you want - also, check to see that the rims are hubcentric, and not just lugcentric

"the track" -- for me personally is definately just DE events and that would probably be a year or so away. I still need time to get the car in shape and am enjoying just driving it around town enough as it is. I asked about tracking these rims simply because I was curious if these aftermarkets or this "type" have a history of known problems when pushed.

I currently have factory painted white 968 cup 16s and would like to get an extra set of 968 17s and paint the centers black but they are nearly impossible to find <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />. So I am only mildly interested in these aftermarket ebay rims, just think they look nice. Too many other higher priority ways to waste money on my cars.

Thanks, Glau

I have black anodized Fikse Mach V's for the track. I really prefer a silver colored wheel myself... but, everyone else just LOVES them! I get more folks commenting on the wheels than I can shake a stick at.

So, if you like the black wheel look, go for it.

By the way, the black anodized finish on my Fikse's is THE most low-maintenance wheel I have ever had. Spray with Simple Green, lightly brush, rinse off, spin dry.

Very convenient for a car that spits out lots of sticky brake dust.

If they have a polished rim, yea they look good. On the right application they can look stunning. Now the ALL black rims are just silly looking, they might as well be stock steelies....blech!

Black wheels..what do you think? - kramermic - 09-29-2005

Those look good. Did you photoshop that yourself? I have been thinking about black wheels on my car (black coupe). I really like the polished lip, but at teh same time I would like to paint my cupII's. Any ideas on polishing the lip on cupII's and painting the inside?

Black wheels..what do you think? - PcarFan - 09-29-2005

Hey whats up, no my friend photoshopped those. If I were you id pick these 18"'s up..Those would look awesome on your car or the techart black with polished lip. I saw a couple Porsches with the black cupII's with polished lip and they looked good..but these or techarts would look a lot better.

I think they look good although I would go black on the lips as well. We use to have a red Audi S4 with black Fikse FM-5s. I really liked the look (although the Fikse's cracked continually.)

Yeah I like polished lips a whole lot better, to me the car looks dirty with all black wheels
