968 Cat Back - RS Barn - 10-25-2005

I have finally received the first shippment of cat back systems.

My goal was to have a resonably priced cat back that offered less restriction than stock with a bettter sound and still remain quiet and not have any resonance. The tone at idle and decel is a bit deeper, similar to an E36 BMW. iI is a bit louder upon acceleration and dead quiet when cruising. No loss of torque or hp. Seems to rev quicker.

System consists of Jig welded 2 1/2" Stainless tubing mounting to all factory mounts. Quiet Tone Performance Muffler and 4" Polished Stainless Tip. Includes Euro clamps and and copper gasket.

$699.00

Stainless 4" Exhaust Tip Retrofit to stock $129.00

Any measured weight savings? And is the muffler stainless steel or does it have CS components?

BTW- looks sweet!

Also, have you done testing of the cat-back system with your headers?

Pete,

Any idea what/if any wieght savings there is with your system.

Sam

There is at least a 20lb weight reduction. Muffler is aluminized, all the rest is Stainless.

968 Cat Back - BruceWard - 10-25-2005

Looks good!

Are you going to offer a head back package with the headers, a lower resistance cat and then the cat back piece?

968 Cat Back - RS Barn - 10-25-2005

Yep!

All the pricing and options will be on my site by weeks end. Ihope, could be Monday

any thoughts on whether the header back system in it's entirety will provide a performance gain?

i know there was some talk of testing the system a while back.

don't mean to sound pushy, but i'm a rare person who enjoys the quiet of the original exhaust, but would gladly sacrifice some sound increase for more power.

just a curious novice here.

Brian,

The Header back system will give a power and torque increase across the board. It works especially well with airbox mod and performance chip. It unleashes the the potential of those mods. And those mods unleash the potential of the header setup. The fact is all together is the best setup I've tested.

There's a whole 'nother market for this product, but they'll want to see horizontal-view photos of the tip: a lot of 968 owners are looking for polished/SS tips but feel the stock polished tip somehow didn't fill the void in the rear bumper properly.

I'm very glad to see you've done all this work, and anxiously await more information about the various configurations. Congratulations!

BTW: that's some clean-looking car you've put your prototype into!

I agree on the tip issue. The tip I use is wider and rounder and fills the opening better. I also have Fabspeed tips that could be used. I think I found the best available. I will take some additional photos tomorrow.

cool tip and direct swap with stock - no welding required

if you are just going to weld behind the new muffler, and not clamp like stock, take a look at the sebring tips - also stainless - resonator included - about $99 retail - you might want to carry those too - i don't know of anybody other than muffler shops that carry it, and generally it's not as a seperate part for sale - something to think about

Any possible links for the Sebring tips?

968 Cat Back - BruceWard - 10-25-2005

Pete,

Have you dyno tested the header back system? Any chance of seeing the results?

968 Cat Back - flash - 10-26-2005

pete - i'll dig up some contact info and get it to you tomorrow - i'm pretty sure you could get set up as a distributor though - i don't think they've thought about anything other than muffler shops as a vendor

968 Cat Back - RS Barn - 10-26-2005

Yes I have tested on dyno. I would'nt have offered it if it didn't have positive results.

PM me your email and I will copy you on this.

968 Cat Back - RS Barn - 10-26-2005

I took some more pictures of Stainless tip and with a Fabspeed tip for comparison.

I ended up not using the Fabspeeds due to the taper after the opening. It was as wide as mine but then reduced to 2 1/2' to meet pipe. The one I'm using stays at 4" all the way back to welding point.

OOPS!!! My digicam battery just died. Pics tomorrow

968 Cat Back - BruceWard - 10-26-2005

The Dyno sheets look great! Thanks!

968 Cat Back - VentoGT - 10-26-2005

I will definitely be watching this space for the pricing on the full header back exhaust with high flow cat. Will probably be my next mod...

968 Cat Back - matman - 10-27-2005

Can we not see the dyno sheets here?

968 Cat Back - RS Barn - 10-27-2005

I prefer to send them individually. That way if you have any specific questions we can discuss.
