In browsing one of these OEM parts fulfillment web sites, I ran across a Sachs flywheel for the 968 for $261!
Link here: Sachs flywheel
Has anyone looked into this? The description does not mention dual mass, but it says OEM spec. Kinda confusing.

The caption of the picture says it may not be representative, so it must be a file photo.

the price is right, based on comparison to paragon, for a 924S, 83-89 944, and a 944 turbo - sounds confusing for sure
worth looking into for sure

It may be the same flywheel that is used in the 944S2, which is not dual mass. That's what I run in my trackcar and it bolts directly to the 968 engine no problem.

what's the weight?
do you get the same resultant rattle in the transaxle the light flywheels do?
can you use a spring center disk?

It's probably a mistake. Sachs pressure plate maybe.
BTW, a S2 flywheel will not work in a 968 bellhousing.

Didn't know that, my track car actually runs the 924S bellhousing which is a direct bolt on to the 968 engine.

The end of the crank and the engine to bellhousing mounting points are the same among 944, 951, 968 - which explains why your setup works. The 968 has a longer bellhousing to accomodate the thick dual mass fw and has a shorter torque tube.
