Ferrari, the Prancing Horse, and Armageddon - ether_joe - 03-23-2006

lads it's been real fun. But I fear The End Is Near.

Strolling down market st on a sunny San Francisco afternoon. Enjoying a break in the rain. Pulled into a clothier of some repute to inspect the merchandise. . . OMFG what the hell is a Ferrari emblem doing on a PAIR OF SHOES!!??!?!??!!!

Mein Gott, the dudes running the show seem to have struck a cross marketing deal with. . . PUMA???!!!

So now we can all start to cringe when we see decked out teenagers strolling around with. . . Ferrari emblems on their feet.

emoticons don't sufficiently express my shock, remorse, disappointment and regret

Porsche Design does similar stuff. See http://www.porsche-design.com/

Necklaces, belts, shirts, shorts, etc. No sneakers though...

Karl.

see, that Porsche site IMO is tasteful, looks like they have limited distribution - you really have to be an enthusiast.

Now I walked into a Puma store and was surrounded by Ferrari badges. Sumpin just ain't right there.

Ferrari, the Prancing Horse, and Armageddon - ds968 - 03-23-2006

I have shoes by Pirelli - does that count ?

wonder if they're run flats ?

Ferrari, the Prancing Horse, and Armageddon - sasilverbullet - 03-23-2006

I'd never buy Pirelli shoes - I'd have to keep getting myself balanced!

ayn was out shopping the other day, and said she saw porsche shoes at the porsche design store - i have yet to see them - i'll confirm that one later today

Ha, you don't want to be "that guy".

Ferrari, the Prancing Horse, and Armageddon - flash - 03-23-2006

i am in the market for a pair of tan or white low top driving shoes just for fun runs - i already have my hightop racing shoes for real driving (still gota grab a new suit - old one long gone, and was only a one layer anyway) - i picked up a pair of the black pumas - comfy, but not what i wanted

Ferrari, the Prancing Horse, and Armageddon - ds968 - 03-24-2006

I'm surprised you haven't thought of this - Ron, the Zagat of shopping, can easily point you in the right direction for the perfect pair...

Ron ?

Ferrari, the Prancing Horse, and Armageddon - ether_joe - 03-24-2006

you know here's where I'm at with this. A small-distribution, tastefully-designed shoe for showing off at concours events, or a little stylish driving, is fine with me.

I just resent the fact that I walked into some random retail store with no car/Ferrari association whatsoever (Puma???) and all of the sudden I'm surrounded by Ferrari badges.

I mean I have so much respect and lusting over that symbol. to see it as the latest tommy hillfiger bling just broke my heart.

Drivings shoes for the Flash :

Ok, follow my lead.. I have a few pairs of the ( obligatory & perennial ) JP Tod's driving shoe - I'm.. like, soooo James Coburn ..but not quite that horsey looking , one pair of Piloti REAL driving shoes, and these Pirelli ( pix ) I just bought a couple of months ago from Saks - and yes they do they have them for you in White, Beige and a variety of other colors - about $ 220 , IIRC. But you could wear them while not driving as well, as opposed to your high tops which might raise a few eyebrows if you go to dinner with them on . Oh wait, it's L.A. - never mind, you'll get away with anything there

Rushed out to take the photo in decent light

Puma is a big sponsor in F1.

Most of the drivers wear them, including the Ferrari drivers, Shumacher and Massa.

Ferrari, the Prancing Horse, and Armageddon - porsche - 03-25-2006

I didn't think the Puma/Ferrari shoes were all bad.

I've always liked the Puma "Speed Cat" shoes. Add a Ferrari badge and you're just making a good thing better.

Anyway, I was in Vegas last week checking out the new Ferrari dealership in the Wynn Casino. Next to the car showroom, the dealership has a goodie store filled to the brim with stuff crested with a Ferrari badge.

I continued onward to Nordstroms and bought a pair of the Puma shoes with the Ferrari Badge in Fly Yellow for my Vegas trip companion. Those skinny little shoes go great with long tan legs. As such, I kinda like the Puma/Ferrari shoes.

hmmm I was not aware of this.

This changes things a bit. That there is an arrangement of substance between the two entities.

Perhaps the world is *not* coming to an end quite yet. . . thank you my lads for I can now get to sleep tonight.

. . . zzz . . . long tan legs . . . zzzz . . .

here kitty, kitty..

ok, granted these would look a lot better on Rachel Hunter's legs than on my old, scarred, stocky soccer palyer feet, but they are featherlight, cushy..and I have an identical pair in black as well... yeah, I know SCARY !

Might trade the white ones to Fash for some wine tasting...
