Sort of new car with electrical gremlins - josephsc - 04-11-2006

As some of you already know -- I recently put myself back in a 968 cab. A coral blue 92 cab -- a high mileage car but the previous owner took astonishing care. I'm guessing she is Canadian because she has driving lights that come on with high beams. So maybe a French Canadian name is in order -- Minjonet (petite blue flower), perhaps....

Anyways, I was messing around with the car today and created more problems than I solved....

* The car has had check engine light that wouldn't go away (and I can't extract the fault code via the accelerator pedal -- must be a Canadian thing) -- so I replaced the DME with one from a 93 968. The CEL is gone for now, but I still can't get the blink code. What activates the blink code -- is it not the DME itself? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

* I had half a day of driving around with clear instrument lights before the darn air bag light came on. I can hear a clicking noise coming from the passenger side when ignition is switched to power. I might need a replacement airbag controller and a reset. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

* I'm trying to track down a bad ground associated with the foglights. Turning the fogs on simply blows the fuse. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

* Oh, and of course the convertible top cable seemed to have snapped today as well. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
