I need to have my windshield replace and have called a few places. All of the quotes are relatively high (650-900) and it seems they are all sourcing the same brand, sekurit.
Are there alternatives out there that can be had for a lesser price and from where?

call sunset imports - about 400 delivered to your door - bruce managed to get his for a lot less through a wholesaler, but to my knowledge, so far nobody else has been able to convince them to sell it to them - a search here on that should turn up the name of the place, and you can give it a try

Mine was in that expensive range too. Kinda surprised me, especially after hearing claims that all the 944 guys get 'em done for about $400 installed.
Mine is the factory Sekurit with wire in the glass (bloody antennae design!).

ron (midblu) just checked into this a couple of weeks ago - the "400" number was still good at sunset

Check you auto insurance. In most states full windshield replacement coverage is required by law (no deductible). I just had mine replaced. It cost the insurance company about 650.

Is this law in California? I was able to get this coverage in Arizona but when I moved out here my provider (Amica) doesn't offer no-deductible glass coverage.Anybody in California have zero-deductible glass?

Unfortunately, it is not required by law in CA.
Quotes from Sunset were 450 for the tint strip version and 590 w/o the strip. Plus ~100 shipping.

The quote came from Jeff. What's Ron's user name? I'll PM him and see what he paid.

midblu - he ended up getting one from a local guy, but the price was about the same as the quote from sunset
