AIR BAG ON AFTER 968 HAS SAT FOR A WHILE - BOB968 - 05-21-2017

Folks:

On my 95 968 cab, if the car has been sitting for a few days or longer, the air bag light comes on when the car is started, stays on for 5-10 minutes then goes off.  Can anyone explain what is the cause and how to remedy.  Thanks

The system does a self test every time the car is started. It normally doesn't take that long though. You will need access to a diagnostic unit to see what is going on in the module

Thank you 968 wokaholic for your comments. What diagnostic unit are you referring to---factory, aftermarket. There is no Porsche dealer near me.

I've had my 968s consistently " sit " for several weeks , and often even months ... I never had an issue with the airbag light staying on for more than a second . It's not normal, so a daignostic test is needed to find out where the glitch is ( electronic gremlin most likely , doubtful it's anything serious )

Durametric is a good aftermarket tool, and it is pc based so you can run it off of a laptop
