968 side moldings - JScara - 10-06-2006

Anyone where these can be bought used/New? Where they only on the 94-95? Or an option all around?

Thanks

If you want white you can contact the seller from ebay who had a set that did not sell.

They were an option. I added them to my car almost immediately after purchasing it. If you need, I can go back in my records and provide part numbers - I purchased them from my local Porsche dealer. (And, to make sure that all went well, I also had the dealer paint and install - expensive, but the ding-free sides have been worth the price.)

I e-mailed the ebay guy to see if his are OEM

968 side moldings - Bob Kovacs - 10-09-2006

I got magnetic side moldings for my car in 2000 from a company that seems to no longer be around. The moldings are black rubber and can easily be removed and reattached for waxing and washing the car. I love 'em but no longer know where to get them.

Interesting. Anyone have these?

Magnetic side mouldings wouldn't necessarily need to be specific to Porsches. Has anyone found any generic ones?

968 side moldings - Mark - 10-10-2006

The generic ones I found were about 6"-8" wide. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> The link I posted will sell them painted in the Porsche color you specify.

Wow! I need to fix that post.

The generic ones were 6"-8" wide and would look hideous.

The link I posted above is for skinnier ones painted in your Porsche color.

Yeah, the ones I got for my car are generic, or at least cut to order. They are hard black rubber and about an inch wide. They are the ones on my car that's pictured in the November 2006 issue of Excellence magazine, on the first page of the article about replacing the clutch hose (page 155). Although these don't look fantastic, they look a helluva lot better than door dings.

The ones Bob have look good (saw them at this year's Newtown get together) and you can take them off when washing/waxing the car.
